It isnt easy raising a sourdough starter. A few batches have been thrown out as nothing grew, one had a nastly black liquid floating above, another had a live wriggly thing! Have baked four times unsuccessfully. This is sourdough #5. Crust looks ok. Can makan or not?

Yesterday's tasting and sale went better than expected. Everything was gone at the end. Prepping from the previous night and working from 10 am, I made 8 loaves, 4 garlic baguettes, 6 focaccia, 8 pitas and 4 baby cinnamon loaves in time for my 530 pm start time. I will never have a morning sale! Thanks for those who helped and those who came to support.

Browned butter salted coconut cookies, (recipe from the Smitten Kitchen). First time using browned butter which butter cooked till its brown and has brown bits in it - smells like caramel. an extra step for cookie making but i think it really made a difference!

After satisfying my coconut bun craving, i had a flashback of having lo ma kai (glutinous rice with chicken) suppers with my bro back in KL when we were young. Of course, everything now comes from the same factory, especially here in Singapore. So, this is my next challenge. I hardly use glutinous rice to cook, except in Korean ginseng chicken soups so this will be an experiment for me. Back to researching some recipes online for now, while the rice soaks for at least four hours. Perhaps we will have something for breakfast tomorrow other than bread!
