How cool is the Gatton Library cubby house 🥰🥰

Chelsea worked her magic on the layout and created a perfect cut file which makes life easy for me. All I had to do was cut the correct colours. The galah and the ibis are super cute.

If you are out there make sure you pop into the library. They put of some fabulous events.

It was supposed to be a quick look this afternoon, swap a couple of oxalic strips and see what has gone on while we holidayed. This was a shiny new queen when we left, we didnt see her but new lava in the hive, so very happy to meet her today. Not the best frame but brood is growing nicely.

Confusion in next hive. 2 queens, many queens cells and uncapped lava 🙄 what are they up to. We took the opportunity to take a split and pop one queen and a queen cell into a nuc. Fingers crossed.

Great to see all hives growing.

Hopefully the varroa count stays manageable for a bit and the ones that have made it through the first round of varroa get an opportunity to continue to grow.

How exciting. This box is on our patio roof, we had swarming and they were provisioning the empty box before we went on holidays. Today we checked and we have brood. Amazing little creatures. These are our Austroplebeia Australis babies 🥰🥰 No idea which hive likes the roof but they love an empty box. 🥰🥰

Monday 28th Sept - What an absolute privilege to be welcomed into the home of RoyalHoneySakah while visiting Bali. I did message and ask if we could visit as we were staying in the area. What a surprise to see these beautiful hives down the little lane.
I will have to recheck the names of the bees he keeps when I get home but the first hive (the box hive) in the video is their little bees and we got to sample some honey directly from the hive. The rest of the log hives in this yard are the large trigona bees. They are so big compared to our native bees at home, the honey pots are huge and the entry tunnels are amazing. They do move the brood up into the honey supers cheeky buggers. The honey from these larger bees has a beautiful strong flavour similar to home. 🥰

Walking along Sanur beach in Bali this morning and we found 2 hives of wonderful little bees in the one log. People must think I am mad when i do a little happy dance on the path. 🤣 Look look 🙂🙂 🐝 🐝 🐝

Today's stingless bee spotting was at the Botanical Gardens in Singapore. Again they love to make nests in random spots. Today is light posts the crazy little things 😊😊
