From the series a “A Common Thread”, hand embroidery on real roses. The series is a play on classic flower embroidery, but where the flowers are the canvas and not the subject. It’s a celebration of our common denominators, and place focus on matters that unite us instead of divide us. The ballad “Over the rainbow” was composed by Harold Arlen with lyrics by Yip Harburg, published in 1939, at a time when the Jews were coming under increased hostility. The song is about hope, that the bad times will one day be over. It has been a symbol throughout some of the darkest times in history, from the Holocaust to the lgbtq battle for equality. The feeling of hope that the “Over the Rainbow” convey is a feeling we all can relate to. See Webshop and portfolio for more info.

🍞🖼 “Digestible Art - Da Vinci”
This abstract bread series explores what can represent a pixel (the individual units that compose an image), and re-constructs and modernizes famous artworks by the old masters, including Da Vinci, Vermeer and Magritte. The mosaic-like installations are composed using coloured pieces of toast, which act as digestible pop art-like pixels. The familiarity of the toast pieces is challenged by their colour, scale and repetition, yet the strong heritage of the paintings pierces through the abstract expression, encouraging the viewer to reflect on the power of recognizing a familiar sight through colour combination. The title comes from my aim to create art that is digestible and relatable. I'm inspired by the ordinary that can be meaningful and understood by a wide and diverse audience, and act as a universal trigger instead of a complex matter that is only relevant to a small group of people.
Original work: Mona Lisa by Leonardo Da Vinci, oil on canvas.

In webshop: “Brand Matters – Eau de Frozen Flowers” The series reflects on the subject of brand association, challenging the deep-seated emotional response that is triggered with brand costumers. Luxury markets build on a personal relationship between customer & brand, where the value is determined by a sense of familiarity and belonging, rather than the function of the product. The brand object in this photography series is stripped of most of its visual features, retaining only its sculptural form. It remains however instantly (to the point of instinctively) identifiable for brand costumers sustaining a sense of simplicity and luxury, despite the varying manifestations & materials used.Initially inspired by the view from Coco Chanel’s hotel window over Place Vendôme, the No. 5 perfume bottle presented with its simple diamond cut design an antidote to the overelaborate crystal fragrance bottles dominating the preceding decennia. At the launch in 1921, the design spoke to the liberated & simplistic expression of the time while its fragrance introduced a complex layering of notes that also was new to the customer.
Creating the series was a real trial & error process where all measurements of the mold had to be carefully calculated& measured to create an exact but over- dimensioned reproduction of the bottle. The sculptures measure 9 liters in volume. I went through eight different approaches and materials just to settling on one that I could build the original sculpture from in order to create a mold that would sustain all future sculptures. From that the mild could be constructed in two parts with an open back formation to allow for the tapered shape of the bottleneck. Then came the introduction of new materials to use in the mold, for each sculpture building up a structure that would present the icon with new expressions and associations. I imagined the experimenting to be very much like the perfumers’ careful layering of top, base & heart notes. It was an intriguing process applying materials that either harmonize with &support the sense of the original object (like incapsulated frozen flowers) or that contradict (like concrete or sand.) 👩🏼‍🌾/👩🏼‍🎨

🏳️‍🌈 Happy Pride! ”HOTdogs 🌭 Part of the series “No Artificial Colours”, where the familiar sight of everyday object is transformed , using unexpected and striking colours. The re-contextualisation of the subject presents a new connection for the audience to discover. The whimsical use of zestful colour, combined with natural hues, gives us a contradiction. The title “No Artificial Colours” refers to the common use of artificial substances in products for human consumption, as well as genetically modified food. The suggestive images invite the viewer to further explore and imagine, without condemning the matter.” @ Stockholm, Sweden

”Rich Chocolate” 🍫
“I’ve created a collection of small-scale installations exploring the consumer relationship to luxury brands (in which the Chanel logo is featured as a symbol for branding and deluxe). In the world of extravagant products, experience and perception of the brand is far more important than the utility of the product. The consumers attribute a value based on personal familiarity and association, which tends to generate an intimate and loyal relationship. The series Smell & Taste Deluxe is constructed of delicious food and lavish floral arrangements into high relief couture. The compositions encourage the viewer to explore her imagination and to invite the senses of taste and smell for an even profounder personal connection to the brand. Alternatively the viewer can look beyond the featured object and simply enjoy the view.” @ Stockholm, Sweden

”Water Colour” available at 🌸+💦=🎨
This series is a visual meditation on nature as it is represented in fine art. Still life floral arrangements have been explored as subject matter throughout fine art history — the subjects and symbolism of bouquet paintings were traditionally executed with highly refined techniques to appeal to a cultivated audience, this series features flowers in their natural form submerged in water (as opposed to sitting in a vase). The series subvert the traditional notions of the bouquet in form, perspective and context. In my art I use common, literal objects such as flowers to build my installation. In assembling the installation I consider each flower to be a representation of a brushstrokes in a painting, in the abstract way nature presents them. The water enhances the natural colour, while the bubbles and waves that are created by the fluid movement signify the process of painting; the shifts and turns of a brushstroke. @ DTR Modern Galleries

Happy earth day “Planet Plant - a plan B”
This series is a candid study of the issue of climate change and it’s effects on the wellbeing of our environment and society. Featuring a plant sphere, this piece is representative of our scientific search for alternative habitable planets, found or engineered. The image also contradicts our current urbanized globe. The plant sphere can also be considered an urban garden, representative of a future in which this mini botanical planet takes a place in our homes as a cleaning system to manage household carbon dioxide. In this whimsy approach my aim is to shred light on an extremely important issue. Ultimately, my hope is that it can be a channel for reflection that sparks the imagination and encourages viewers to take own action.”
