I'm very happy with this award with a picture that's absolutely one of my favorites from the last year. This is why I love documentary photography!!! Catching this moment, which lasted for just a few seconds, was an amazing feeling. And I was very pleased to hear that the picture was also one of the favorites of the parents.

Sinterklaas, the Dutch holiday that we always celebrate, wherever we live! This year we could celebrate it again with the grandparents which was off course extra special.
Weeks of anticipation, shoes by the chimney, every night ‘Sinterklaas journaal’ and today the big day: lovely gifts with great poems! And then when everything was done, This little ‘Piet’ was tired 😉

I will share some sneak peeks from my work at the exhibition: “artists in the time of COVID-19” in the White Majlis at the Sheikh Faisal Bin Qassim Al Thani museum.

This picture got the title: what’s happening?

Although some pictures look like they are posed, they are actually not. During the lockdown I did an amazing workshop by .koedijk That made me realise I can make unposed pictures but in a way it reflects more of my feelings then only documenting the moment. When I made this picture I immediately felt it was resembling the corona feeling.

2020 will make it into the history books, nobody will doubt that……

The purpose of my family documentary photography is to document life how it really is. With all the ups and downs. So when the lockdown started in Doha I started documenting the life in our home. How it changed because of the restrictions, which emotions came up and how we managed with the home schooling.

I’m very proud to announce that my work is now showcased in the exhibition: “artists in the time of COVID-19” in the White Majlis at the Sheikh Faisal Bin Qassim Al Thani Museum. This exhibition is from november 13 till december 12.

They made a lovely spot to watch my video, so take the ride to this lovely green area around the museum, take a seat in the White Majlis and enjoy the slideshow! I’m curious if you will recognize some of the moments in your family during lockdown. This week I will share some pictures of the exhibition.

Real dinner table moments: “Please eat the bread......” Well this baby girl clearly had other thoughts 😉
