Also known as “Olivier Salad”
To be honest I thought it was probbly something made-up by some guy in America somewhere, but it turns out to be a genuine Russian dish…..
Devised in the 1860s by a Belgian cook Lucien Olivier, the chef of the Hermitage, one of Moscow’s most celebrated restaurants, Olivier’s salad became popular with Hermitage regulars, and became the restaurant’s signature dish.
The recipe was of course kept secret for a long time until it was stolen and inferiorly reproduced and then willingly sold and published. It’s now served as a celebration dish all over the world, and in particular, a new year’s day favourite for Russians.

Parippu
Masoor daal cooked in a beautiful blend of spices with coconut milk. An omnipresent in Sri Lanka, consumed with all forms of rice and bread.

Mas Badun
Beef curry which is incredibly flavorful and heavy on coriander, cumin, and black pepper. Tempered with the spices and fresh coconut milk, its a comfort food to be eaten with roti or parathas.

Pol Sambol
Spicy coconut garnish, merely a mixture of shredded coconut, chilies, lime and onions – and believe me, every bite is like a miracle come true. Perfect to eat with bread, roti, or on top of rice, or with curry.

Did you know that Haleem actually originates from the Middle East ??
Literally speaking ….. Haleem is known as an Arabic stew typically made with a variety of barley or wheat, lentils and meat. It’s a popular dish in Central Asia and the Indian Subcontinent, particularly popular during the month of Ramadan.
IS IT HEALTHY?
Made out of lentils and meat, of course it is !! A filling dish that’s usually eaten on its own or can be eaten with naan. Top it with a variety of toppings such as fried onions, thinly sliced ginger, green chillies and chopped coriander and then a squeeze of lemon juice !!!

And here are the so very famous Khawsa or Khow Suey or Khao Suey !!!!
Originally from Burma, it is a popular dish among the Memon & Gujrati community. It comprises of noodles and a coconut or yoghurt based curry, with spicy chicken or beef masala and an array of condiments.
There’s the Burmese version, the Gujrati version, the Memoni version and of course the fusion version incorporating all three !!!!
