𝑾𝒉𝒐 𝒊𝒔 𝑽𝒊𝒄𝒕𝒐𝒓𝒊𝒏𝒂? That is the second most asked question we get after “What’s your best seller?” 🤔

As most people know, the name of a brand says a lot about a company. It plays a significant role in representing what the company is and what it stands for. Such is the reason why we never used Buns & Roses, Puff Daddy Bakery, or Bready or Not. As funny as they may sound, we wanted something that represents how we value our products and customers.

So, who is Victorina? Well, she’s none other than the grandmother of the proprietors!

Warm, caring, and sweet, that’s how she was. Like most grandmas, Victorina always looked after her grandchildren. No matter how little she had, she always gave everything she could to them. 🤗

Making sure that her grandchildren are full and satisfied during visits is on top of her checklist. Most of all, she made sure that her grandchildren got to eat the best. This was the reason why they have grown to have strict standards when it comes to food.

Since the mission of the proprietors was to 𝒃𝒓𝒊𝒏𝒈 𝒒𝒖𝒂𝒍𝒊𝒕𝒚 𝒄𝒂𝒌𝒆𝒔 𝒕𝒐 𝒕𝒉𝒆 𝒎𝒂𝒓𝒌𝒆𝒕 𝒂𝒏𝒅 𝒑𝒓𝒐𝒗𝒊𝒅𝒆 𝒘𝒂𝒓𝒎 𝒂𝒏𝒅 𝒘𝒆𝒍𝒄𝒐𝒎𝒊𝒏𝒈 𝒄𝒖𝒔𝒕𝒐𝒎𝒆𝒓 𝒔𝒆𝒓𝒗𝒊𝒄𝒆, naming the business after Victorina is the right move. Hence, Victorina’s.

Is it really cheesecake that you’re buying? Most cheesecakes in the market are scam. Too white, airy, and super sweet? Might as well buy vanilla ice cream if that’s the case. 🍦🤦

Just because it has blueberries on top, cream cheese (and mostly cream!), and graham crust doesn’t make it a cheesecake. In fact, the real cheesecake is much more complicated in taste.

✅️ First of all, it’s supposed to be creamy with a hint of sourness because of the cheese and sour cream. However, most cheesecakes in the market have bland cream cheese as their base and doused with sugar (yuck). Some even add more cream making it more bland.

✅️ Second, it should have a tang! Why? So that every bite tastes fresh!

✅️ Third, the base must be buttery-good! Most focus on the cream cheese part, but a good base is what makes the difference from a good cake to a bad one. Too crumbly makes it annoying to eat and too wet makes it unpleasant. Who wants soggy cake? (Not me!)

So, how would I know if the cheesecake I bought is a good one? Other than what were already mentioned, the following are some tell-tale signs of a poorly made cheesecake.

❌️ Too airy and too white- It’s a sign that the cheese to cream ratio is not right. Too white means too much cream. Too much cream means blandness.

❌️ Base is too dry - The reason for this is that the maker was too cheap to invest on the right ratio and ingredients. Too dry means it doesn’t have enough butter, and the right amount of good butter makes a good base. A good base means good cheesecake!

❌️ Tough cake / too runny - A good cheesecake should be creamy enough to hold itself that also melts in your mouth. Too tough means it uses gelatine for stabilizer which makes it chewy. Too runny means it’s under cooked which can lead to health issues (because of salmonella). Why? Cheesecake uses eggs and undercooked eggs are a health hazard.
