Coffee can contribute to your daily fluid intake, as it is primarily composed of water. However, it also contains caffeine, which is a mild diuretic. This means that caffeine can increase urine production and potentially lead to a slight loss of fluids. Despite this, the diuretic effect of caffeine is not strong enough to offset the hydrating benefits of the water in coffee for most people. Therefore, while coffee can help with hydration to some extent, it should not be relied upon as your primary source of fluids. Drinking water and other non-caffeinated beverages is important for maintaining proper hydration.
