Long post ahead . . .
My Baking Journey ❤️
In September 2023, I baked a simple vanilla cake for my niece's birthday. What started as a heartfelt gift unexpectedly became the beginning of my baking journey. After my family tasted it and encouraged me to sell my cakes, I decided to take a chance and see where it would lead.
By October, I began buying baking supplies and experimenting with different recipes. Since I personally love chocolate cake, I started selling moist chocolate cakes. The positive feedback kept coming, and that motivated me to continue baking and sharing my creations.
At that time, I was working as a Quality Team Manager in a BPO company, a role I had held for eight years. Baking became my stress reliever. After work, I would spend my nights creating customized cakes—even though my decorating skills were still far from perfect back then.
My routine was exhausting. I would get home in the early hours of the morning, work on cake orders, wake up a few hours later, and then travel from Cavite to Alabang for work. Four hours of travel every day. That was my life for quite some time.
I am incredibly grateful to my former boss for being so understanding and flexible with my schedule. I am also thankful to my QAs, who were among my very first customers and continuously encouraged me to keep selling my cakes.
Then came January 2025.
After more than a year of balancing my corporate career and my growing baking business, I made one of the biggest decisions of my life: I resigned and chose to focus on baking full-time.
I was scared.
Scared of taking the risk.
Scared that I might not earn enough.
Scared that I might fail.
Scared that I might lose the comfort and security I had built over the years.
But despite all those fears, I chose to try.
Now, here we are in 2026.
Two years and eight months later, I'm still baking—and I still love every moment of it.
Of course, there are stressful days, but I am genuinely happy. It has all been worth it.
I never imagined that Cakes by Ann would grow this much. We've come a long way, but I know this is only the beginning. There is still so much more ahead of us.
To everyone who has supported this journey, thank you.
First and foremost, thank You to God for guiding me every step of the way.
To my family and friends—especially my siblings—thank you for always believing in me and reminding me that I am capable.
To my partner, thank you for standing beside me, even during the times when we disagree over cakes and business decisions.
And to all our customers—those who trusted us for the first time and those who keep coming back for every celebration—thank you from the bottom of my heart.
Your support means everything to us.
Don't worry—we will continue to improve, learn, and create even better cakes for you.
And to every aspiring entrepreneurs out there: don't let fear stop you from chasing your dream. You don't have to be perfect when you start. You just have to start.
Cakes by Ann is proof that a simple birthday cake can change your life. ❤️
