Too many of us treat our 9-to-5 like itโ€™s a secular zone where our faith doesn't matter, but there is no such thing as secular work for a Christian. It's all spiritual.

Every email you send, every customer you assist, and every meeting you partake in is an act of worship (1 Cor. 10:31). When we show up late, complain about our circumstances (of course bringing up real workplace issues is important and isn't complaining), or do the bare minimum, we are actually hurting the reputation of the gospel.

The Bible tells us that whatever we do, we are to work at it with all our heart, as working for the Lord rather than for men (Col. 3:23). This means that our real Boss isn't the person sitting in the corner office.

Because we serve a God of excellence and order, our work should reflect that same excellence. We don't work hard to earn God's love, but because he has already given us a new nature that desires to honor him (Eph. 2:10).

Your coworkers might never pick up a Bible, but they are reading your life every single day. When you serve with a smile and go the extra mile (which Jesus literally told us to do in Matt. 5:41), you are showing them the character of Jesus. Our job performance is one of the loudest testimonies we have.
