My granddaughter loves reading so for Christmas I made her a book stand to hold her place when not reading. Also place for her coffee cup.

Holiday in Gulmarrad (northern NSW) with my brother in-law and sister in-law. He asked if I could help build a small platform for his garage to keep some “valuables” of the floor. Beer mostly and a portable fridge. Has to be kept cold.
So using all my Grandpa’s Shed skills it was no problem. Have to keep my hand in like any good athlete. 🚣‍♂️

At Grandpa’s Shed we are asked if we can make lots of different things from wood. This time it’s cremation Ashes Box for Renee from Carried Away Coffins. Made from natural products. West Coast pine and finished off with beeswax.

Haven’t used my lathe in a while so decided to laminated some beautiful pieces of Radiata together and create a bowl. With the straight sides and the end grain emphasized on the inside it looks s bit different. The bowl is finished with bees wax to protect the timber and highlight the grains.

Wooden cake boxes all lined up ready for packing up and delivered to Total Food Equipment Christchurch at 218 Moorhouse Ave.
These cake boxes are individually made at Grandpa’s Shed from Kahikatea as it is very low on sap and has non-tainting properties. This timber was used to pack and ship butter and cheese around the world back in the day.
Cook your cakes in the oven in one of the amazing boxes.

We had the most amazing day on Sunday at larcombvineyard for the bettertogetherweddingfair
We took Aunty Con along as “Iced Iced Baby” and treated everyone to some delicious cakes and toppings. Along with some stunning display cakes, displayed with some beautiful candelabra and candles from The China Cabinet and somethingborrowedsomethingnew_ we had top notch chats with so many wonderful brides and grooms to be. What a day!!!

The Twisted Flour & Sugar girls were head to the Cake Decorators boot camp in Timaru. Part of the antics was Hobby Horse race - dont ask!!
Please could you make a couple of Hobby Horses. We will dress them up. Ok i will do that. Fortunately these events are not part of my job description.

Did you know, today is World Chocolate Day?

The CI team is quite partial to a chocolate treat and today especially, we're wishing we had a few more slices of the very delicious, chocolate mud cake we indulged in as part of our 30-year celebrations. This super-sized sweet treat was made by the clever folk at Twisted Flour & Sugar Merchants and went down exceptionally well!

Jump onboard the Vengabus!!! It's time to pull out your "Now That's What I Call Music" CD's and party like the 90's.
We created this epic "90's" cake for the amazing team at Te Tahi Youth for their 30th Birthday celebrations over the weekend. It included handmade Nokia phone, game controller, MP3 player, and a Tamagotchi (hidden around the back so it could sleep).
