My baking journey
Episode Two
My second attempt to bake was not as bad as the first but wasn't fun either. I just entered j.s.s.2 when I decided to try again.
I still had no idea of measurement tools, baking soda, baking powder or anything related to baking. I searched desperately for who would teach me, everyone decided to be economical with that information, but they said I could add milk. I said okay so now I have sugar, flour, butter, egg and milk.
When I went back to the woman who helped me the first time, after I told her the cake refused to come out of the pan, she said 'use small butter rub the pan before you bake' (of course I refused telling her I was flogged).
This time around I told my Mum and she approved of it and wanted me to satisfy my curiosity. I went to work, did what I couldn't understand and put my cake on my local oven (I was told to add sand to the pot before putting the cake which I did)
My people, the cake came out veeeeerrry thick, over sweet, burnt, veeery strong and was smelling like something that was soaked in unzu. Lmao
My Mum who was waiting looked at it and started laughing she asked me "how you take know say e don done?" Me I sha told her "e don dey burn".
Watin concern me? I was looking at the cake and happy that it was better than the first and I'll not receive any punishment. After I tasted it, I told my mum to try it at first she refused but later did.
Everyone that ate that cake was so happy because it was veeeery sweet, (why e no go sweet when I pour 1 and half tin of peak milk inside?) One person even called it stone cake after he asked me " Mimi watin you dey give us so? I replied with so much pride to say "na cake, na me bake am.
