I checked the group chat yesterday evening just to be sure my long awaited break was close. I saw the same thing- School resumes on the 5th of January 2026.

I excitedly began to prep the boys for back to school. Hubby even suggested that they resume on Tuesday but I declined. They must leave my house to school whether they like it or not.

Ransomed, my first wanted to object but he knew better than insist on staying home so he began his chores in a snail-like manner, wishing and praying that I’d call the resumption thing off.

His brother Jasper on the other hand, as the second born and the chief agitator spoke up defiantly- I will not go to school today! I don’t want to go to school today.

The entire scene was chaotic but I didn’t relent. I reminisced on all the rest I would get today after the boys leave the house and my imagination was delightful.

All that peace and quiet! I couldn’t wait to enjoy the deafening silence and actually hear my own voice for the first time in three weeks.

When all was set and done, I bade them goodbye and proceeded to bathe my Eme in preparation for the full girlies day.

I had barely finished bathing baby Eme when my husband’s car honk and the boy’s excited laughter shattered my calm atmosphere.

Mommy, Mommy, check your phone. Our school said a message was sent yesterday to inform parents that school will resume nextweek. There is no school todayyyyyy.

Everywhere first blurrrrr!! My peace flew off the window.

One of the things I deeply admire about most American high school movies is how they incorporate sports into their academic programme.
This gives every child an opportunity to either win at academics or become a global athlete.

In Nigeria, asides the drained out interhouse sports that happens once a year, sports are not encouraged in schools at the junior level for students and pupils who desire to tow that path.

Marrying a man who is so passionate about Lawn tennis exposed me to a sport that has now become a favourite and guess who has joined their Dad?

The boys!!!!

So yes, this year, asides winning within the four walls of a classroom, the boys will be training on weekends to become great lawn tennis players.

Consider this my own project mbappe! And yes, I am automatically their manager🤣.
