Being a baker, a home baker for that matter, is NOT an easy job. 😔🎂
Sometimes, people see the beautiful cakes we post and think, “Wow, she’s doing well.” But they don’t see the part where we sit down and wonder, “When will the next customer come?”
Nobody truly understands the struggle until you start baking from home.
You buy ingredients with your own money. You spend hours baking, decorating, cleaning and creating. You take beautiful pictures, post them online, and then… silence.
Sometimes I will literally cry because I’m not getting enough orders. Not because I don’t love what I do, but because I desperately want this dream to work. I want my business to grow. I want to become somebody through the gift God has given me.
The hardest part of being a home baker is not even the baking itself.
It is looking for customers.
You will advertise. You will post. You will beg people to patronize you. You will support other businesses and pray that one day, people will support yours too.
And sometimes you start asking yourself,
“Am I not good enough?”
“Why are people not ordering?”
“When will my own time come?”
But I’m learning that every successful baker once had a beginning. Every big bakery once started from somewhere. And every dream needs patience, consistency, prayers and support.
So please, whenever you see a small business owner posting their work, don’t just scroll past.
Like the post. Comment. Share. Recommend them to someone. Place an order when you can.
You may think it’s “just a like,” but to a struggling small business owner, that little support can mean “Please keep going.”
I am still here.
I am still baking.
I am still learning.
I am still believing.
And by God’s grace, I will get there.
To every home baker struggling silently, I see you. We will make it.
And to everyone who has supported my baking journey so far, thank you. May God bless you for me.
If you’re a home baker, tell me honestly: what is the hardest part of this business for you?
