There is always an opportunity in every disappointment and there is also a blessing in it. The journey of my baking started when I was in year 4 in unilag during an Assu strike that lasted more than six months. (Thank you Assu for the strike 😊 )I took the opportunity to learn baking and catering at AFUNAS CAKES AND CATERING SCHOOL at Surulere Street Bariga. After the training, I thought of where to start and how to get customers to patronize me. I started in a little space in our compound. I started with pastries, meat pie, egg roll donuts, etc.
What next how do I attract customers? Believe me guys I started hawking my snacks guys🥲. There are good days and Bad days in the hawking business. Some days there will be no sales and some days with leftovers. But, I never give up. On one of my hawking days, I went to a Sawmill at Ladi_Lak and the rest is history guys. That was how I was able to gather my client and it was the talk of the town and I was able to get students for training as well.
During my NYSC I was deployed to Serve in Benue state Wannune camp, my primary assignment in Otukpo. I did a competition in the camp and I got the first position and I won a cash prize of 100k, that moment I knew baking and catering business is my path to success... It is the gateway for me to accomplish what I desire.
Immediately I called my parents and told them about the competition and they were so excited about the news, they prayed. I was advised to start saving money to get a shop when I return.
I got a shop of my own after which God blessed me with a good husband that supported me in my business.
MJ CAKES AND EVENT is still in progress because I haven't gotten to where I want it to be. But, I thank God for where I am and the journey so far, the journey has been rough and smooth but all thanks to the Lord.
One thing I want you to know is do not stop learning. Always upgrade yourself in any skills you are doing. As things are advancing keep your games up too.
I have an opportunity to learn from different hands for an upgrading class. For the masters class, I went to . _catering for tropical fruit trees and catering. desserts in lekki for baking.
I can't do without mentioning some names who have one or two impacts on my business, whenever I need help concerning the recipes and some jobs that seem to be difficult, in the person of ABIOLA OGUNLANA OJULARI CEO of thank you so much for all you have done for me. I don't know how to pay you back but I know Almighty God will reward you for all you have done for me May your business never go down in Jesus' name (AMEN).
