Your Will Be Done

Instead of long, loud, and fancy, the prayers that move God are simple, authentic, and heartfelt. But simple is not the same as safe. And that’s the reason I’m compelled to write this. The biggest mistake I made in my prayer life, the reason my prayers were so lame, is because I prayed too safely. I was in a comfort zone with God. I wasn’t on fire and I wasn’t cold. My prayers were tepid. But safe, lukewarm prayers don’t draw us closer to God or help us reveal his love to this world.

Prayers are inherently dangerous. This idea about prayer dawned on me while reading about Jesus talking to his Father in the garden of Gethsemane, just a short time before he gave his life on the cross. Knowing what was ahead, Jesus asked God if there was any other way. Then Jesus, not just a regular disciple or a person in the Bible, but J-E-S-U-S, the Son of God, prayed a vulnerable and dangerous prayer of submission: “Yet I want your will to be done, not mine” (Luke 22:42).

Jesus never asks us to do something he wouldn’t do himself. He calls us to a life of faith, not a life of comfort. Instead of coming to him for a safer, easier, stress-free lifestyle, the Son of God challenges us to risk loving others more than ourselves. Instead of indulging our daily desires, he calls us to deny them for something eternal. Instead of living by what we want, he tells us to pick up our crosses daily and follow his example.

I worry that for a lot of people, prayer is like buying a lottery ticket, a chance at a life here on earth that’s problem-free, stress-free, pain-free. For others, prayer is merely a sentimental routine, like reciting favorite song lyrics or a beloved nursery rhyme from childhood. Yet others pray only because they feel even guiltier if they don’t.

But none of these prayers reflect the life Jesus came to give us.

Instead, he called us to leave everything to follow him.

Jesus didn’t just challenge others to leave their own wills behind. He too lived a dangerous faith. He touched lepers. Showed grace to prostitutes. And stood bravely in the face of danger. Then he told us we could do what he did—and more.

And that’s why we can’t settle for simply asking God to bless our food or “be with us today.”

We’re told in the Bible that we can “come boldly to the throne of our gracious God” (Heb. 4:16a NLT). We don’t have to approach timidly or feel awkward—we can come before him with confidence, assurance, and boldness. When we pray this way, then “we will receive his mercy, and we will find grace to help us when we need it most” (Heb. 4:16b NLT).

Your prayers matter.

How you pray matters.

What you pray matters.

Your. Prayers. Move. God.

Working for Peace

One look at the world around us and it’s clear: peace isn’t going to make itself.

Nations are warring and people are fighting. You may even have some personal relationships filled with bitterness and contempt. Thankfully, we can lean into Jesus’ wisdom in the seventh beatitude:

“Blessed are the peacemakers, for they will be called children of God.”
‭‭Matthew‬ ‭5:9‬ ‭NIV‬‬

Let's be clear, peacemaking is different than peacekeeping. In fact, Jesus assured us that as long as we’re on this earth, we will face trouble. There will be chaos, division, misunderstandings, and a need for making peace. And that is why…

Peacemaking requires action.

Yes, peacemaking compels us out of our own comfortable lives. But for those who are willing to step into the tender space of making peace, here are some thoughts to help you lead the way:

- Peacemakers lead the way with humility. No one is perfect and we all need grace. None of us are God, but we all need Him. Leading with a posture of humility is key.

- Peacemakers lead the way with empathy. Even when we disagree with someone, respectfully listening and seeking to understand their perspective is essential for making peace.

- Peacemakers lead the way with truth and grace. Any time Jesus interacted with people, He did so with both truth and grace. We must have both to accurately represent Him.

- Peacemakers lead the way to the feet of Jesus. Apart from Him, we can do nothing. Apart from Him, we are nothing. When we realize our mutual brokenness, as well as our mutual need for Christ, everything can change.

Seeking to be a mediator for those in disagreement doesn’t mean that every problem will be solved—immediately or ever. But when we invite God into those spaces and commit to the hard work of peacemaking, He can do more than we can ask or imagine.

When you expect too much from people, you often end up feeling disappointed, hurt, frustrated, or emotionally drained. Humans are imperfect — people may forget, change, fail, disappoint, or simply not love and care the same way you do.
High expectations can lead to:
Constant heartbreak
Overthinking and resentment
Feeling unappreciated
Broken friendships or relationships
Stress and sadness
Sometimes, the problem is not loving people too much — it’s expecting them to think, act, or sacrifice exactly the way you would.
A healthier mindset is:
Appreciate people for what they do
Communicate your needs clearly
Learn not to depend completely on others for happiness
Give without always expecting equal returns
One painful truth in life is: “Not everyone will value you the way you value them.”
But that should not stop you from being kind. It only teaches you to protect your peace, set boundaries, and choose wisely who gets access to your heart.

Sometimes life may not go the way you planned.
People around you may seem to be moving faster, succeeding earlier, or achieving more. But never forget this:
🌸 Your delay is not your denial.
God is still writing your story.
Every struggle is preparing you for something greater.
Do not give up because things are slow.
A seed grows underground before anyone sees the fruit.
Keep praying.
Keep working.
Keep believing in yourself.
Your time will come, and when it does, nobody will be able to stop your shine. ✨

Online classes for elementary and primary school pupils provide a flexible and engaging way for children to learn from the comfort of their homes. Through interactive lessons, educational videos, quizzes, and live sessions with teachers, children can develop strong learning habits while improving their academic performance. Online learning also allows pupils to learn at their own pace, giving extra attention to subjects they may find difficult.
