If you went to school with me, there’s a high chance you bought something from me at some point 😂
Because why was I already doing business in Primary 4 like I had bills to pay? 😭
I was buying promise cards for ₦5 and selling them for ₦20… my classmates were my first customers, whether they liked it or not.
And I didn’t stop there.
In JSS2, I moved into selling mangoes.
In Senior Secondary School, I became the recommended person to assist my classmates to get literary texts (with my own added profit, of course, my time and transport had value 😌).
By SS3, I added fish roll to the list because why not? 😂
After secondary school, I relocated. You would find me outside the house with a cooler selling cold zobo😂
I truly experienced the hustle firsthand 😭
And the funniest part? I have sold almost everything; garri, groundnut, kulikuli, chin chin, even pomo.
At this point, if it can be sold, I have probably sold it 😂

Some mistakes I made when starting my business:

📍I waited for everything to be “perfect” before showing up — logo, packaging, everything. Truth is, I should have just started.

📍I underpriced my products because I was scared people wouldn’t buy. I ended up stressing myself more than necessary.

📍I didn’t promote enough. I thought “good products will sell themselves”… they don’t. Visibility matters.

📍I wasn’t consistent. Some weeks I showed up, some weeks I disappeared.

Honestly, every mistake taught me something. And that’s how Sweetville became better.❤️

What started as a simple craving… became something bigger than I ever imagined❤️.

In 2021, I didn’t set out to build a business. I just wanted to learn how to bake for myself. I’ve always loved snacks, so it was just about saving cost and making what I enjoyed.

But late in 2021, things began to change. My chinchin caught people’s attention, my sister’s friends started ordering, and what was once personal slowly became something people wanted to buy.

In 2022, I spent time with my nieces, and their love for snacks pushed me to start making buns. Then I baked cakes for family celebrations, and that was when the idea of something bigger truly began to form.

By 2023, when I got into the university, I saw more than just a campus, I saw opportunity. Even without my own oven, even when profit was small, I kept showing up and building.

Today, Sweetville is no longer just a personal hustle. It’s a growing brand with retailers, supporting other businesses and serving customers beyond just me.

And this is just the beginning🤭
