SARDINE BREAD.....open your sardine divide it into 2... separate the oil remember the oil will be use to mix the dough then dry one part and let it be dry without any oil this dry one is for the filling the dough inside ...why the other part with oil is for the body of the dough and spread it on the side of the pan then bake it when it is well proffed...the reasons why you must dry the one inside is that for your sardines bread to stay longer but if you will be eating it instantly then you can use it without dry any part of the sardine.... thanks ijoba captain bakery consultant

🍞 FELLOW BAKERS, LET ME TELL YOU SOMETHING MANY BAKERS DON’T PAY ATTENTION TO…

There is a “BREAD SEASON”! 😳🍞

Just like we have rainy season, dry season, yam season, and corn 🌽 season, the bread business also has periods when demand goes up and periods when sales naturally slow down.

So, if you are a baker and you suddenly notice that your bread sales have dropped, DON’T PANIC!

You may be asking yourself:

“What is happening to my sales?”
“Why are customers no longer buying like before?”
“Is another bakery taking my customers?”

Not necessarily!

Sometimes, it is simply the season.

For example, we are currently in the yam 🌽 and corn season, and these foods can affect bread sales because people have other food options available to them.

SO, WHAT SHOULD YOU DO AS A SMART BAKER? 👇

PRODUCE ACCORDING TO YOUR SALES!

If you normally produce 10 bags and your sales have dropped, don’t continue producing 10 bags just because that is what you are used to.

Reduce your production to match your current demand.

The worst thing you can do is overproduce and start begging customers:

“Please help me buy bread.” 😂

That is when some customers will say:

“Give me on credit, I will pay you later.”

And before you know it, your bread has entered the customer's house, but your money is nowhere to be found. 🤦‍♂️😂

DON’T LET LOW SALES PUSH YOU INTO BAD CREDIT SALES!

Instead:

✅ Produce according to demand.
✅ Reduce unnecessary wastage.
✅ Control your expenses.
✅ Protect your cash flow.
✅ Maintain your bread quality.
✅ Be patient and watch the market.

Remember, LOW SALES DOES NOT ALWAYS MEAN YOUR BAKERY IS FAILING.

Sometimes, THE MARKET IS JUST IN A DIFFERENT SEASON.

When the season changes and demand comes back, your sales can pick up again.

A smart baker doesn't only know how to bake bread.

A smart baker knows how to READ THE MARKET. 📈🍞

So, fellow bakers, have you noticed your bread sales changing during yam or corn season?

Let's hear your experience in the comments. 👇

GOOD DAY, FELLOW BAKERS! 👋

TODAY'S TOPIC: COMPETITION IN BAKERY CAN LEAD TO BAKERY DOWNFALL

In the baking business, don't ever copy another bakery simply because you want to make the same sales as them.

In the bread business, I can tell you that people know quality bread.

If you don't believe me, take your quality bread, reduce the price, and see how well it sells. Yes, you may sell more, but you may also discover that there is little or no profit. You can even run the business down.

This shows that people value quality bread. However, the majority of customers may still prefer a bigger loaf with lower quality if the price is cheaper.

For example, I said I was cutting 240g bread and selling it to retailers at ₦450, so they could sell to final consumers at ₦500.

Imagine someone arguing with me that my bread was too expensive and saying that, in his own bakery, he was cutting 300g–350g bread and selling it for ₦500.

I agreed with him because there is nothing wrong with that. You can even cut 400g and sell it for ₦500, as long as you are still making a reasonable profit.

So, I want to show you some examples of why our bread will never necessarily sell at the same price.

Please look at the chart below 👇👇👇

NOTE: This is ONLY an example. These are NOT real recipes or real material prices. Please read this again: THIS IS NOT A REAL RECIPE.

---

🏭 BAKERY A — RECIPE FOR 50KG

- Sugar — 2kg
- Salt — 600g
- Yeast — 300g
- Preservative — 100g
- Butter — 100g
- EDC — 2 covers
- Softener — 2g

PRICES OF MATERIALS USED IN RECIPE A

- Sugar — ₦2,500
- Salt — ₦300
- Yeast — ₦2,500
- Preservative — ₦300
- Butter — ₦200
- EDC — ₦50
- Softener — ₦20

TOTAL COST — ₦5,870

This is what Bakery A uses for its bread, and they are cutting 350g and selling to retailers at ₦450, so the retailers can resell at ₦500.

It is possible for them to make a profit because they are selling according to their own recipe and cost of production.

---

🏭 BAKERY B — RECIPE FOR 50KG

- Sugar — 4kg
- Salt — 700g
- Yeast — 500g
- Preservative — 160g
- Butter — 500g
- EDC — 5 covers
- Softener — 20g

PRICES OF MATERIALS USED IN RECIPE B

- Sugar — ₦5,000
- Salt — ₦600
- Yeast — ₦3,200
- Preservative — ₦600
- Butter — ₦1,000
- EDC — ₦300
- Softener — ₦700

TOTAL COST — ₦11,400

Now, as a bakery owner who wants to succeed in this business, can you simply copy Bakery A and start cutting your bread to the same size and selling it at the same price?

NO!

You have to understand your own recipe, cost of production, bread size, quality, and profit margin.

---

⚠️ COPY-COPY CAN DESTROY A BAKERY

This kind of copy-copy mentality has made some bakeries shut down.

When you are producing quality bread, customers know what you are producing.

Once you suddenly change your recipe and reduce your price, some of the customers who value the taste and quality of your bread may stop patronizing you.

Meanwhile, the bakery you copied may simply increase its bread size to 400g.

That is how they can push you into debt while you are trying to compete with them.

Before you realize it, BOOM! 💥 The business has turned into something else.

So please, always be careful before copying another bakery.

There are ways to adjust your recipe and there are ways to reduce your bread size while still maintaining the quality customers expect.

Don't just copy another bakery without first understanding their cost of production.

Otherwise, it can land you in serious losses.

---

💥 LET ME BURST YOUR BRAIN!

Even in the baking business, some bakeries use high-quality materials that are more expensive, while other bakeries may not even know about them.

For example, some bakeries use:

- Dependox Softener
- Dependox Improver
- Dependox Preservative
- Jubi Butter
- And many other materials.

These are just some common materials used by different bakeries.

But other bakeries may use more expensive materials, such as:

- ADV Softener — 500g can be around ₦45,000
- ADV Preservative — 20kg can be around ₦90,000
- CEED Improver
- Topper Butter
- Dano Full Cream
- Vegetable Oil
- Flavour
- And other quality ingredients.

These materials can significantly increase the cost of production.

So, you cannot expect the bread produced with more expensive and different-quality materials to be exactly the same as bread produced with cheaper materials—and then expect both bakeries to sell at the same price.

OH NO! 🚫

If you try to force your business to compete without understanding your own production cost, the business can collapse.

🔑 MY ADVICE TO EVERY BAKERY OWNER

Don't compete blindly.

Know your:

✅ Recipe
✅ Cost of production
✅ Bread weight
✅ Material quality
✅ Selling price
✅ Profit margin
✅ Target market

Your bakery is your business. Understand your numbers before you copy another bakery.
