Let’s Talk About Cake Layers for a Minute

So you know how cakes are stacked in layers, right? Well, moat people don't realise that those layers can vary depending on the baker. Why? Because baking pans come in different depths; some are 1", 2", 3", even 4" deep and so on, so the height of each layer depends on what the baker uses.

That means what one baker calls a “3-layer cake” might not be the same height as another’s. So to avoid any confusion or a case of “What I ordered vs What I got”, we do things a little differently here at Roux.

Instead of referring to our cakes in layers, we talk in inches. That way, you always know what to expect. Our celebration cakes come in set heights:
4", 6", 8", 9", 10", 12", 14", and 15".

Each height has a guide for how many layers it includes. For example:
1. An 8" cake will usually have four 2" layers
2. A 9" cake will typically consist of three 3" layers

So when you order from Roux, you just choose your flavour, design, colour, and preferred height and we’ll handle the rest.

🕑 Fridays by 2pm for Saturday orders
