Throwback to two years ago. 💙
I stumbled on this picture today, and it instantly took me back to a one-week field trip to Abuja with my students.
It was the first time since becoming a mother that I travelled without my child. For one whole week, I wasn't answering "Mummy" every few minutes. I had time to breathe, think, and simply be.
It felt strange at first, but it also reminded me that before motherhood, there was a version of me who was fiercely independent. And for a moment, I got to reconnect with her.
For those who know me, you know I wear many hats. I am a lecturer, a wife, a mother, a daughter, an entrepreneur, and once upon a time, a Baker. Motherhood changed many things. Some dreams were paused, some passions were set aside, and priorities shifted.
Do I regret it? Not for a second.
Motherhood has been one of my greatest blessings. But this picture reminded me that it's okay to miss parts of yourself while wholeheartedly embracing the person you're becoming.
One day, these tiny hands that constantly reach for me will no longer need me the same way they do now. The house will become quieter, and I'll probably find myself longing for the very moments that sometimes leave me exhausted today.
That's why I'm learning to cherish every season. The busy days. The sleepless nights. The little hugs. The endless questions. The laughter, the chaos, and even the tears.
Because every season passes, and every season leaves behind memories we'll one day wish we could relive.
Here's to embracing every chapter of life with gratitude, grace, and a heart full of beautiful memories. ❤️
