Pineapple tarts and Chinese New Year
It's definitely part of the 8 treasures box must have during CNY. Pineapple signifies good luck because in Teochew dialect it sounds like ‘wang lie’ meaning imminent luck. Pineapple also sounds like 'the arrival of prosperity' in several Chinese dialects -'ong lai' in Hokkien and 'wong lai' in Cantonese. It also means 飞黄腾达 or ‘great achievement in career or business’. Trust me these pineapple rolls is less sweet but the pastry is soft that melts in your mouth.
