As the week draw to a close, we bid farewell to our child project and wish it the best for the future. I am, of course, speaking of the project we so affectionately call the P Villas. This project is in Penang, a sister property to Tien Hotel. The properties are adjoining units, both consisting of proper living facilities for the perfect home away from home. The interior is an amalgamation of urban shabby chic with minimal modernism. We kept and exposed the brick walls in the dining and master bedroom so that it has a rustic homey feel. The skylight over the kitchen allows for daylight, and the open air space in the centre of both units feature an open air interior pond. Up the open stairs of simple wood and metal structure, there you will find an outdoor sitting area where we envisaged many nights of stargazing. Across the polished concrete flooring and pass the new metal door with Peranakan glass that we custom designed, are the bedrooms. At the end of the hall is a master bedroom with a King size bed and a restored red brick wall, with subtle soft lighting, solid wood flooring and a 3 piece ensuite. Double glazing over the windows and restored shutters ensures that you still feel a part of the local hustle bustle, while shielding street noise from the room. We also created a double story bunk bed room (much like a treehouse) next to the master, so that families or a larger group traveling together can stay together. These are not your average bunk beds you grew up with folks! No siree, we made the twin bunks slightly larger so each bed is an oasis in its own right, with individual lighting and enough space to store and charge your gadgets in bed with you. Down the room stairs is where we put in a 3 piece ensuite, along with plenty of space to spread out with bean bags. It is truly a fun place for kids and adults alike to hang out in. The entire place is a quirky mix of bright turquoise, deep blue and rich burnt red tone amidst grey and white background.
We had the time of our lives designing and decorating it, treating it like it’s our own home, and the end result truly has the unique T&P touch!
