For many decades fruits and vegetables have been underutilized in Africa.
It's high time for farmers to change their mindset on farming and see it as a real business.
Most of the fruit and vegetable farmers have always been blessed with plenty of harvests once or twice a year. Surprisingly most of the surplus go into waste but why? I think farmers do not do lots of research and value addition.
Let me remove you from darkness
Go and buy a solar dryer from a reliable supplier with quality machines. Dry your produce(fruits and vegetables) you will have both fresh and dried products. From the fresh produce you can make juice or smoothies or even sell them wholesomely.
I advise you to pack the dried fruits and vegetables in a good packet, sell them during drought and mint cash from it, that is an entrepreneurial mindset, they have to be certified and confirmed to be good for human consumption.
You can also mix them with wheat flour to get a variety of products. Have you ever thought of eating cabbage cake, pumpkin doughnuts, sweet potato Chapati, banana juice, beetroot ice, mango ice cream. Imagine how enjoyable it would be eating healthy.
When it comes to marketing, make good use of social media platforms, posters, you can also do door to door delivery using bikes.
