My late FIL introduced me to kambocha 34 years ago. A scoby along with the brew was duly packed and sent along with us when we went to my husband's work place for the first time. Have been brewing it on and off. All this while it was the plain kambocha but recently I have started infusing fruits and making mocktails also with it.

Kombucha is a fermented, lightly effervescent, sweetened black tea drink commonly consumed for its purported health benefits. Sometimes the beverage is called kombucha tea to distinguish it from the culture of bacteria and yeast. Juice, spices, fruit or other flavorings are often added - courtesy Wikipedia.

It's a joy cooking some of your favourite things. Every festival ,celebration, Bada Khanna will definitely have this item on the menu. This is one thing that kids want extra numbers to be made. It reminded me of my boys running in and out of the kitchen with the loot in their hands.

Another traditional,must-make/have recipe from my childhood. Come summers ,and there is a flood of mango recipes in every form. Some are for immediate use ,some preserved in love and goodness for future. Believe me, they don't last that long.

This is made with Mishri ( white string candy). It is considered a coolant during summers and is able to quench thirst. A dash of saffron adds fragrance and lends its true color .

A lip smacking accompaniment to parathas, poodi, Dosa,idli, variety rice and what have you.....
