What began as a simple cake for my daughters birthday eight years ago later turned into a full time race to build and deliver the perfect cake for those special occasions. As if one twist wasn't enough after baking a cake for a friend's daughter we were taken aback when all the guests who ate the cake were more then willing to take a workshop on how to make it themselves. After 100+ classes we re

alised that sharing and learning is the greatest joy when it is shared with someone equally passionate. So now with us churning out 5+ customized cakes a week and 4 workshops a month to teach these new and happy faces how to build their own masterpieces

People say you never know what you really want to do in life until you do it. Well,we guess we just fell into cooking (:

Your cook already knows exactly how your family likes their dal.
Now imagine they also know how to plate a Thai green curry, fold the perfect dim sum, or serve a four-course Italian dinner — exactly the way you’d want it at your table.

At The Wooden Spoon, we run private workshops for your home cook. You pick the cuisine. You pick the menu. We train them in our kitchen, for the meals you actually serve.
No more “let’s just order in.” No more repeating the same five dishes. Just quietly excellent food — the kind that makes guests ask who your chef is.
Because the best table in Bombay should be the one in your own dining room.

DM us “WORKSHOP” to design a menu for your cook. Limited slots each month — by appointment only.

Let’s put together something deliciously beautiful 💛

15/04/2026

Putting together a proper Gujarati thali is really quite something… not just cooking, but a gentle orchestration of flavours, textures, and little memories on a plate.

From the comfort of sev tamatar nu shaak to the quiet heat of wagharela marcha, the smokiness of ringan no olo, and the grounding warmth of a fresh bajra rotlo — every element has its place, its mood.

Add to that the softness of khatta dhokla, the homely indulgence of wagharela khichadi, those unapologetically bold lasaniya bateta, and of course, a little sweetness to finish with thabdi penda… and suddenly, it all comes together rather beautifully.

We’ve been quietly working on something along these lines… a rather special, seasonal thali. 🧡

More very soon. ✨

If you love garlic, this one’s hard to resist.

Lasaniya Bateta — bold, comforting, and full of flavour, just the way it’s meant to be.
And when the base is this simple, every ingredient matters.

A touch of Vandevi Hing brings that depth, that warmth, that unmistakable aroma that ties it all together.

Made with heart, just like every recipe by Nupur.

Save this for your next indulgent meal and DM me for the full recipe! 🤍
