Fire-lit night, drums in your chest, and a Theyyam performer leaping over flames like it’s the most natural thing in the world. 🔥🌙
A few quick facts about Theyyam:
• It’s an ancient ritual art from North Kerala (Malabar region)—part dance, part theatre, part worship.
• Performers wear towering headdresses, face paint, and intricate costumes and are believed to embody a deity/spirit during the ritual.
• There are hundreds of Theyyam forms, traditionally performed in village shrines and sacred groves, often in the dry season (roughly Oct–May).
