While retirement life was extremely enjoyable, I did miss a lot of things including the wonderful customers and conversions, the aroma from the bakery oven, the creative designs and challenges and much, much more. So the secret is out….the apron is back on…..and the ovens are warming up….. for my return……BUT….in a different way.

I am thrilled to announce we are opening R&L Coffee Cart, outside Tubbercurry GAA Pitch on the N17. This Friday we will be officially opened from 7am - 2pm. We will have your favourite coffees & Teas and you’ve guess it, we will be stocking the cart with your CLASSIC & FAVOURITE Cake Lodge Treats along with some new additions. 🧁 🍰 🥐

Looking forward to see you all from behind the coffee cart counter.

Thank you so much to the committee of the South Sligo Community Park Ltd along with South Sligo Athletic Club for hosting us last Tuesday evening where we handed over the incredible amount of €5,050, thanks to the generosity of so many ❤️. We were giving a tour of the facility and it is amazing to see the work being done. There was over 200 children training in the rain and they even didnt even notice it. To see the Paul Walsh Running track in full use even though it not fully finished yet was truly heart warming. The community spirt is truly alive and well and Paul’s legacy will live on in the young generations to come. I have no doubt one day we will have several gold medal athletes from fruits of being sowed at the park❤️

❤️🎂❤️ Yesterday might have been my last day but more importantly, it will go down as one of the greatest of my career. I am truly overwhelmed by the support and generosity of all who came from near and far. It epitomises what community spirit is all about. Being able to sit down and chat over a slice of cake with my loyal customers, who have turned into friends, really made it so special and signed off my journey into retirement in the most perfect way.
When I first decided to hold a coffee and bake sale, it was never a question as to where the donations were going to go towards - The Paul Walsh running track in Tubbercurry. This will give the youth of South Sligo so much opportunities and Paul will forever have a lasting legacy left behind him that will never be forgotten.
I am delighted to announce that from the generosity of everyone, together, we have been able to raise an AMAZING. 💰 €4,750 💰 it will go towards the development of this Running Track.
👏👏👏 Thank you so much to each and everyone for making this happen and making my last day the icing on the cake 🥰
To my family and friends who helped make it all happen. I’m very so grateful, it was a team effort and wouldn’t have been such a success without all the many hands who helped. Lastly, to anyone who supported me in any way over the last nearly 30 years, a massive THANK You ❤️. It has brought me great joy in playing a small part in the special days in your lives - birthdays, wedding days, christening days and many many more. Behind every cake was a story, a way to display the people and the things that play vital parts in your lives, that for me was always the best part. The ovens are officially turned off and the apron hung up.. In the coming weeks I will take a trip down memory lane and post pics of cakes from my caking journey. Time for a new chapter in life to begin. From me to you - THANK YOU SO So MUCH. & GOODBYE 👋 🎂❤️❤️

Looking forward to seeing you all tomorrow for the last day of The Cake Lodge. Thank you so much for the endless support over the last numerous years and especially the generosity shown the last few days by so many people in the lead up to tomorrow’s coffee morning and Bake Sale. It has really been an emotional but sentimental week and looking forward to a great day tomorrow where I hope to get to see you all. The ovens are still on and going strong and ready to bake all your favourite goods.

A reminder that Therese from The Cake Lodge is closing her doors this Saturday 27th September and will be hosting a farewell coffee morning and bake sale from 10am to 3pm with all proceeds being donated to the Paul Walsh Running Track. Please come out and support Therese on her final day and say farewell. We wish you all the best Therese you will be missed.

On Saturday morning at 6.30 am the North West STOP-Suicide Prevention 5k walk starts from Tubbercurry. Rebecca and her team do great work for this cause
And then on Sunday at 1pm The Moylough Tractor Run ‘ gets underway with proceeds to NorthwestStop

Wishing Molly and Stephen and Enya and Cyril a very Happy 1st Wedding Anniversary this weekend. I had the pleasure of making both their wedding cakes which turned out to be my last wedding cakes and ironically both Brides were my neighbours. Never got chance to share last year but thank you both for the pleasure of creating your very special cake ❤️
