CLR19bakes This is us, asking you, to eat more cakes. See the full story here goo.gl/Qv5H3F

Other than being international students and occassional tea drinkers, we like to spend our weekends making art, updating Instagram, and sometimes, baking. We'd really like you to buy our cakes and send some love to the kids of SILO, a shelter for children of 43 years in Central Java, Indonesia.

If anyone has a burning desire to read our project report...

Here's a confession. We kinda just threw ourselves into the project without clear objectives (I know, shocking right??! ) But hey we had a lot of passion, so here's the thing that we learned: No matter how good you are at organising stuff, harassing your friends & the public to buy your cakes (marketing), making awesome graphics & videos & creative campaigns & events, at the end of the day passion is what keeps you going. (And money to sustain your business/initiative/etc) (but passion 😅😉)

Visit us (Kezia Monica) in front of NUSU tomorrow, for a fun afternoon making some delish sandwiches & spreading the love to those in need

Get involved & decide.. which team are you on???

The best part of our week has been meeting new students as they learn new microvolunteering skills from some of our student leads. Tomorrow it is the turn of Monica and Kezia, offering edible treats that you have to make yourself!

On day 1 we were given a house tour, tested the children's reading skills, made es buah, had the biggest Indo meal with the children & sang beautifully (NOT).

On day 2 we joined their morning prayer & bible reading at 5am. After breakfast we visited a couple of local attractions while the children went to school. In the afternoon we gave the children the letter that some of you wrote, played games with them and had another session of bible reading (the children clearly had a better influence on us than us on them LOL).

On day 3 we hired a bus to go for a picnic in Borobudur, which is the largest Buddhist temple in the world (I think so I haven't googled this). One of you sponsored our drinks so the children had fresh coconut & pink milk with their lunch (thanks, u babe). We also had popmie (cup noodles) on the way home on the bus (yep we brought a huge thermos with hot water because you never know when you get hungry). We ended the day with teaching some of the children 6th grade math (I hope I taught the right thing.. we'll never know...)

And on day 4 we said our goodbyes, except it's not a goodbye, it's a see you again. Cos we'll be back next year (Andreas Lukita Halim don't let down my mother).

That's it from us. Here's a lot of hugs (enough to keep you warm until we see you again x)

We took the kids of SILO for a trip to Borobudur, a 9th-century Mahayana Buddhist temple in Central Java, Indonesia. The kids (and us ofc) had tons of fun exploring the cultural spot, having a summer picnic (good things it's always summer in Indo...) & went home with sweet memories (even sweeter than our cakes).

This has concluded our trip to SILO. We hope you can see how much love the kids have received & realise that it wouldn't happen without YOU. Peace, love & CLR19out (for real this time...)

24/08/2017

Every single morning, the kids of SILO woke up at 5am for a morning prayer. So when we joined them on the second day of our trip, we saw what faith, trust & hope look like - and that day, it changed our lives forever.

On another note, we also have the children of North East Solidarity and Teaching, Scotswood Natural Community Garden youth group, Pendower Good Neighbour Project youth group & all of our friends who have written beautiful letters for the kids of SILO. It made a huge impact on them, knowing that someone out there cares just enough for them.

Our hearts are full.

Here's the recap of our first day in SILO. We were given a house tour, tested the children's reading skills, made es buah & had the biggest Indo meal (obvs had to sit on the floor!!) (More of our terrible singing to come...) x

Our team is flying to Solo tomorrow to visit SILO, the orphanage we've been raising money for.

However, we had the chance to see a different group of children in different part of Indo. These children are looked after by a centre that partner with people - not only to create educational opportunities, but to also provide nutritional needs & equip these children & their mothers (DREAM) with extra set of skills (music, sewing etc).

As the project ended, we realised we raised more money that we originally aimed for (THANK U) so we decided to allocate some of the extra money we made for school supplies, nutritions & some musical instruments to this centre (solely for the fab job they've been doing & to get these kids to school so THEY CAN CHANGE THE WORLD).

Thanks again for all the love. Do follow our journey to Solo this weekend on Instagram () ###
