We are forming a MAHJONG SMILES TEAM to participate at ‘s 2026 Charity Mahjong.

Playing on the 27th June at The Royal Garden Hotel to support Families of Spinal Muscular Atrophy.

Funds raised will keep the Foundation‘s support programmes running:
-Mercy Medical Management
-Home tuition and interest class
-Wheelchair taxi transportation services
-Home based rehabilitation
-Emergency home help
-Seminar, workshop and medical conferences

COOKIE EXCHANGE COMPETITION was a great example of connecting people in real life and making space for talent to be celebrated.

The in-person event at brought together 7 homebakers and 15 of their supporters, people of different backgrounds to meet and share the excitement for a good bake.

We are grateful to have judges Louisa Ho and Danny Ho. The homebakers found immense value in their individual feedback session with the award winning professionals of the food industry.

And congratulations to the winners:

#2 - Jacque Teo (Honey pistachio cookie)
#3- M Kartika (Captain oats confetti cookie)

All the competing cookies were sold over the week at the cafe to support the establishment’s operations and mission.

If you haven’t been to Café 8 before, now’s as good a time as ever to experience a space that is truly unique.

This isn’t just a venue. It’s a home base for people doing something meaningful, a place that recognises that baking can be both joyful and purposeful.

Café 8 is connected with the Nesbit Foundation, where training and support help adults with disabilities gain confidence and employment through real work experiences.

So when we talk about this event giving back, it’s more than words. It’s a community in action.

Sunday 17 May, we’re gathering there to share cookies, stories and purpose.

🍪 One of the biggest pieces of feedback we heard was how hard it is to make time for baking things we love, especially if we’re juggling work and life.

So we’ve moved the Cookie Exchange Competition to Sunday 17 May at Café 8.

Putting it on a Sunday means something simple but important: you can walk in with your family, your biggest supporters, your partner, your kids, your housemate, whoever cheers the loudest, and they can be there with you.

Bring them. Watch your cookie story unfold. Meet other home bakers. Taste and share. Make a day of it.

This space is meant to feel joyful, supportive, real. Not rushed.

It was a wonderful Saturday last weekend. HKSAS students enjoyed a seaside outing at Pier 8 sponsored by Community Smiles.

The day began with a tour at the Maritime Museum, followed by a group lunch at , and concluded with an art class out on the sunny deck.

It was a day filled with exploration of the city’s coastal heritage and the present as the students depicted the skyline through their art. We hope for these students’ perspective to grow broader with each experience, inspiring them to appreciate the past while envisioning a vibrant future.
