Every bear made is special but these 2 dogs had a special connection for me and i was very honoured to be asked to make them and trusted as I have never used this pattern before!!!
Diana and Mike who lost their son Stuart in 2006 aged 27 due to receiving infected blood products as treatment for Haemophilia as a toddler. He was given HIV and hepatitis C and died as a result. These dogs were made of some of his old clothes including his much loved golf ties, including his hole in one tie! Tears were shed when received and one dog will be given to his younger sister Laura.
The connection and shows its a small word is I use to go to primary school with Laura and Stuart but being so young never knew anything about his illness. The only thing I do remember being drummed into us at school was if we saw him fall over we weren't to touch him but call a member of staff immediately!! It's funny the things that stick in your memory, or mine anyway!!!
And then Laura and myself reconnected when she started working at my daughters school, some paths are jusy intertwined for a reason.
But the best thing about these and no time scale was given for making theses I contacted Laura to say they were ready and she was so thrilled because it was her mums birthday the next day!!!
I am so pleased these were able to be part of her special day ❤️
