I’m really sorry but I’ve decided to cancel my cake stall at Watton market tomorrow. It’s just going to be too hot, and I don’t think the cakes or me ! will cope very well in the heat ☀️

☀️HOT WEATHER WARNING: ☀️

🐾 Keep Your Pets Safe This Week

The forecast is looking very hot for the next 7 days 🌞 pets feel the heat far more than we do. Their bodies cool slowly, and heatstroke can strike fast and be fatal. Here’s your simple guide to keep them happy and safe:

✅ Never leave them in a car — even 2 mins, windows cracked = deadly heat build-up

✅ Walk dogs EARLY (before 8am) or LATE (after 8pm) — skip midday walks entirely if you can

✅ Test the pavement — hold your hand to the ground for 5 sec; if it’s too hot for you, it burns their paws

✅ Fresh cool water ALWAYS —place bowls in shade, have multiple spots around home/garden

✅ Cool resting spots — shaded areas, cool tiles, damp towels on neck/chest, cooling mats, fans or AC

✅ Extra care for vulnerable pets — flat-faced breeds (pugs, bulldogs), seniors, puppies, thick coats, rabbits/guinea pigs in hutches (move to shade, keep well-ventilated)

⚠️ Signs of heatstroke: Heavy panting, excessive drooling, lethargy, vomiting, wobbly legs, collapse. Act fast! Move to shade, cool with damp cloths, give sips of water, call your vet immediately

❗️ No pet ever died from missing a walk — but many have died from being out in the heat.”
