💔 GOODBYE WANTAGE MARKET 💔
I’ve been putting off writing this because, honestly, it’s a bit of a big one.
After so many incredible months, we’re saying goodbye to our weekly Wantage Market stall and our planned spooky season relaunch won’t be going ahead this year. 🎃
The hardest part of this decision is knowing we won’t be seeing some of you every week for a little while.
So many of you have made coming to the market part of your routine. We’ve got to know your faces, your favourite cakes, your orders, your families, your dogs, your stories… and it has genuinely become such a special part of running this business.
I’m going to miss that. A LOT.
But I also don’t want this post to feel like a sad ending, because it really isn’t.
We’ve outgrown it. And we’re ready for the next chapter. 🖤
Our plans for an industrial unit have unfortunately fallen through, and it’s made us realise that producing commercial quantities of cake from a one-bedroom flat just isn’t viable anymore.
As frustrating as that has been, it’s also made the next step really clear.
I want a proper home for the bakery.
We want to find a high-footfall, high-street location where we can have a beautiful cake counter and serve EPIC coffee
And yes… I’m going to have to learn how to be a barista too. ☕
Because if we’re going to do this, we’re going to do it properly.
I’m incredibly excited about what that could look like.
But I also want to be realistic- this may take some time.
We don’t have a shop lined up. We don’t know exactly where it will be or when it will happen. There’s going to be a lot of searching, planning, probably a few disappointments along the way, and eventually… an opening day. 🥹
And I’m going to keep you updated and bring you along for the journey the highs, the lows, the plot twists, the hunt for the perfect space and everything that comes after.
