It was lovely to have Bethany Goddard from London District at our Church Parade yesterday to present Graham Hinton with his London District Leaders Lifetime Achievement Award. It was also great to have Derek Nicholls, one of our Battalion vice presidents, there as well.
The citation for the award read as follows.....
Graham Hinton is currently a registered helper at 1st Uxbridge. But having started off as a boy in the company in 1956, Graham has dedicated himself to volunteering across the battalion, having been a Staff Sergeant at 1st Hillingdon in 1962, then an officer at 1st Uxbridge between 1972 and 1986, before helping at 1st Yiewsley until 1990, before becoming the captain at 1st Gerrards Cross until 1997. He then returned to Yiewsley for a short stint before returning to 1st Uxbridge as a Lieutenant in 2003 following the death of Dave Campbell
Over these many years in the brigade Graham has also been responsible for both running and assessing many DofE Awards throughout the District and is most proud of getting 6 young people from both 1st Uxbridge and the battalion through their gold DofE award and was invited to join with them at Buckingham Palace for the DofE Gold Celebration.
