Scout Troop
The first scout patrol was formed in 1920 by the Rev.C.E.French MA the rector of Aughnacloy with its headquarters in the lofts of the rectory yard. The troop recommenced in 1942 by the rector of Aughnacloy with troop nights held in the basement room of the rectory, as numbers grew the troop moved to Derrycush house. This also became too small and with great forsight the trustees purch
ased our present hall for the sum of £1200 to secure the future of scouting and guiding within the district. The first scout camp took place in 1943 at the rectory in Aughnacloy were 14 boys slept under canvas and cooked their own meals for 7 days. Summer camps now consist of adventurous residentials to Scotland, England and even Switzerland. Guiding
The first Guide and Brownie Pack was started in Aughnacloy by the Rev E. Brownell BA on the 6th June 1943 with 36 girls on the roll in Aughnacloy Regional Primary School. Present day guiding consist of many activities ranging from adventurous outdoor pursuits, health and beauty to craft challenges.
