Hello dears! Sorry I’m a bit late for day!

Just getting my head out of my client work for a sec to show you something more personal I’ve been working on recently! A project mixing graphic novel and chapter book for early readers, starring Nox a Little bat who is in holidays at her grandma on the seaside, but there’s something fishy going on in the town 👀

If you’d like to hear more or to work with me on something you have in mind please get in touch with me of my lovely agent, Lucy .

By the way, I’m Macha, a French-British children illustrator based in Taipei, where I miss fish and chips (can you tell?).
Nice seeing you here! 🐟🍟🦇⛵️

16 years ago today I lost my lost my big brother and best friend 🌊 those years are feeling like it was yesterday.

Time really does stops when you are left alone with some love you don’t know what to do of. So I did a little sketch and and wrote some silly words.

(PS: if I had to guess, my face on the second pic lid probably linked to the dress I had to wear that day 🤣)

Helloooooo, last but not least, my last cover for redraw challenge : Alice in Wonderland finds the garden of live flowers

Disney’s Alice movie crept me out soooo bad as a child, it’s not only me, right? 🫢 even drawing it spooked me a bit hahaha
Cause what’s more unsettling to think about than GIANT MOVING FLOWERS WHO CAN TALK 😂😂😂😂 (that said, I’m also scared of butterflies)
Alice agrees.

This challenge has been such a big blast. A huge thank you to the hosts:

Hey peeps! So I’m still catching up on my covers for 🏃‍♂️🏃‍♂️🏃‍♂️ - this is prompt 3 for you today !

Richard Scarry was my absolute favorite as a child, in fact, I have vivid memories of thinking I was living in his animal world, having picnics with Lowly the worm and Huckle Cat 😂😂😂 I still get a cosy feeling whenever I read his stories to my kids (and it’s also hilarious), it’s like being 5 again. It’s also my favorite way to feel close to my parents. Even though they’re no longer with us, those stories are like a direct line back to their love ❤️😊

Needless to say, I was a bit intimidated with the idea of a redraw of my childhood hero’s art (For this one he was only the illustrator, as the original story was written by Ole Risom)
But in the end, I enjoyed it so much! I kept it simple and had fun making the ladybird hard to impress. Their story would totally work as an early reader comic, don’t you think?

Also tell me, who was your favorite children books author or illustrator as a child?

Thanks to the hosts of the challenge:

Last week was , a lovely initiative by a bunch of talented peeps, a kind ‘draw this in your style’ of old classics.
I’m a week behind schedule, but I love this challenge too much not to take part!

Cover 1 was Bongo the bear, made him slightly clumsy haha.

Hey everyone, I’m about 4 months behind on my posting schedule (and my DMs oops) so of course my perfect plan is to hide and don’t post AT ALL 🤣 That said, I received some V.I.M (Very Important Mail) and I just have to show you 🥹. My own signed author copy of Hodgson FC, Rise of the Misfits by .s.wallis has officially made it aaaaaaall the way to Taipei! Dean kindly sent it over and it totally made my week.

There is genuinely no better feeling than holding a book I illustrated in my hands. This one feels extra special as I also worked on the cover design and inside typesetting (thank you, Dean, for trusting me all the way!!). I’ll share more very soon, once I manage to edit a little reel 😅, bear with me.

If you have young football fans in your life, this is such a brilliant read. My nine-year-old hasn’t put it down since it arrived (and is wearing her football kit non stop lol)

As a perfectly imperfect human, I’m very proud to announce this took me 5 hours to complete! 😂

I drew most of it from the car (from the passenger seat, before your say anything) during a really wholesome express road trip to Wales with the fam over Easter. (extra extra cute pic of when we met a poney during a hike included!)

Recently, I’ve seen many AI generated starter packs appear on my socials, BUT even more wonderful artists creating their own unique version. It gave me ❤️ ALL THE FEELS ❤️ so I had to join this wonderful tribe. Merci for launching this trend! Let’s make more art with sweat and soul babes!

Here’s my own 🚫 No Ai 🚫 starter pack. With wonky lines and drawn while fighting car sickness. Yup! Humanity is beautiful 🫶🏻

Here’s what you get:
1. My fav yellow backpack to carry stuff everywhere.
2. A set of unfinished hot drinks of course!
3. A cool purple pigeon hat
4. My Nintendo switch lite (with Animal Crossing)
5. My iPad with ❤️ Procreate app ❤️ for making art
6. A “bilig” (Breton name of a traditional crepe maker) and all accessories cause crepes are my love language
7. My beloved dancing board
8. And of course some hair dye (current version comes with pale pink)
