Stormy skies, a runaway veil, meadow flowers and a rainbow appearing at exactly the right moment... Cornwall certainly showed up for this one 🌿🌈

Glen & Jake travelled from Virginia to Roscarrock for a wedding inspired by the wild landscape around them, filling a bohemian marquee with greens, buttery yellows, coral tones and abundant florals.

When the weather turned, the ceremony moved beneath a stretch tent and the storm became part of the day, bringing all the drama as the couple exchanged vows surrounded by meadow-inspired blooms.

Then came Pimm’s, margaritas, an unexpected wedding crasher wearing a Harry Potter sorting hat (!) and a dance floor powered by brilliant live music.

What a weekend ✨

Big ideas, brilliant conversations, live music, art, food, laughter and plenty of moments to remember.

From the stages to the gardens, from thought-provoking conversations to unexpected encounters, Big Brue brought curious minds together in Bruton - and we couldn’t have asked for a better first festival.

🎪 Last weekend, we hosted the Big Brue (Big Brue Festival)— a festival bringing together renowned voices for creative debate across the worlds of culture, domestic and global affairs, arts, literature and the environment.⁠

Almost 4,000 visitors gathered to hear from over 60 speakers, including Hauser & Wirth (Hauser & Wirth - Art Gallery) artists Catherine Goodman (Catherine Goodman) and Don McCullin (Don McCullin), as well as Bob Geldof, Prue Leith, Dominic West, Carlos Acosta, Alice Temperley, Esther Freud, Nazanin Zaghari-Ratcliffe and more.

The panel discussion, ‘Flipping the Narrative,’ about women resisting stereotypes with Adwoa Aboah (Adwoa Aboah), Catherine Goodman and Helen Fielding (Helen Fielding - Bridget Jones Author) was in partnership with Ursula Magazine (Ursula—A Magazine of Contemporary Culture).⁠

Alongside the talks, the festival included live music, workshops, and food and drink from local vendors including Farm Shop (Farm Shop) and Roth Bar (.somerset).⁠

The final talk, ‘Music from the Frontline,’ was a conversation with Don McCullin and Helena Newman (Helena Newman) from Sotheby’s (Sotheby's) about the photographer’s 70-year career, alongside a live performance by the Cavatina Orchestra (Cavatina Orchestra).⁠ ⁠

The festival concluded with a surprise performance on Sunday night from Gaz Coombes (Gaz Coombes) of Supergrass (Supergrass).⁠

We are looking forward to meeting you all.
THE CHRISTMAS COTSWOLD FAIR..
🎄 On Monday 9 November, the fair will be opening its doors to warmly welcome you. And we (humbly) believe it is THE start to the festive season in the Cotswolds! From 5.30pm until 9.30pm, arrive whenever the working day allows (we've left plenty of time) to a fair just beginning to glow, alive with anticipation for a gloriously festive week ahead. The fire will be roaring in Bohemia Canvas’s lavish entrance tent, a choir will be singing carols through the evening, live music will thread between the rooms while you peruse our glorious edit of brands with a cocktail or mocktail in hand. For those with a VIP ticket, the VIP lounge awaits with English sparkling w**e corks popping, canapés to share, a jam-packed goodie bag and two cocktail demonstrations across the evening to watch and learn from. And a Monday VIP ticket doesn't end there — it's your pass to return throughout the week at your leisure so no need to rush your purchases, opt for thoughtful, considered buys for the whole family. Disagreeing agreeably - time for discussion. Thank you to Brad McKasson for an incredible line up of erudite and clever speakers tackling so many topics we all need to talk about. Time for discussion and debate.

Big Brue is a new festival of ideas and discussion founded by Mariella Frostrup Catherine Fairweather Mccullin Jason Daniel McCue .

It was a super enjoyable, well attended and thought provoking weekend. 👏👏👏👏👏🍀 to the organisers. Fabulous job. Thank you for starting something that will grow and grow … complete with speakers corner.

Here are some takeaways to discuss around your dining room table this evening ….

- Mushrooms should be legalised for medical reasons

- 2nd and 3rd generation immigrants are disillusioned with the UK

- 80% of visitors to our museums are tourists, but should we charge them?

- We need to have more discussions around the dining room table

- If news online is fake, it doesn’t really matter if the younger generation can’t read it. They don’t read — they just scroll

- Should artists stick to art and not have to make political statements?
