Believe it or not, I originally had absolutely NO plans to make my own wedding cake! π€π°
As a Krispy Kreme lover, I was more than happy with the idea of having a tower of doughnuts instead! π©π But as time went on, I realised that this was probably the only time in my life Iβd get the opportunity to design and create my own wedding cakeβ¦ so how could I not?!
Cue my brain going into FULL design mode! π¨β¨
Both our wedding cake and our fake wedding cake went through SO many different designs. Even up until a month before the wedding, I was still going back and forth between ideas π΅βπ«.
For our main wedding cake, I wanted something that looked clean and simple but still had that WOW factor. After lots of deliberation, I settled on an oblong Lambeth-style fondant cake, featuring vanilla sponge filled with vanilla buttercream and raspberry jam. π€π
And honestly? I was BEYOND happy with how it turned out! π₯Ήβ¨
One of the biggest bonuses of choosing fondant was being able to get the cake finished in the week leading up to the wedding, leaving me time for some much-needed pre-wedding self-care rather than frantically decorating until the last minute! ππΌββοΈπ₯
Would I make my own wedding cake again? Absolutelyβ¦π₯°
