To be honest – no, it is not true. My name is Malwina Kalbarczyk and I am the (baking) force behind the Quirky Bakes. I have been experimenting with baking in my grandmother’s kitchen, at the beginning being only allowed to lick the wooden ball used for mixing the ingredients. As I’ve progressed I have realised that baking giv
es me immense pleasure (sometimes with a massive dose of frustration) and family, friends and colleagues enjoy eating my creations. After spending many hours in the kitchen, undertaking few courses, reading many culinary books and being glued for hours onto online tutorials and, finally, taking a massive leap of faith, here we are: Quirky Bakes are official. We are based in Skipton, North Yorkshire and happy to offer our services and cater to your special events. We can deliver to your venue if required. We believe that life is too short to eat mediocre and unimaginative desserts. All our puddings are delicious and, we dare to say: pretty. Many of them are also healthy! What we do:
- We do create unique bakes – as unique as your taste, likes and appetite
- we use good quality natural ingredients, plenty of fresh or frozen fruit, vegetables and edible flowers,
- jams and preserves are homemade,
- only free range eggs are used,
- wherever possible we use wholemeal flour added to the white flour to increase the flavour and nutritious value,
- we use Fairtrade chocolate, usually Barry Callebaut
- all the bakes are vegetarian and we love preparing vegan goodies!
- We do cater for the following diets:
- raw,
- plant based,
- low gluten,
- keto diet,
- sugar free,
- dairy free diet. We endeavour to pack our bakes in the biodegradable packaging (cellophane, bagasse, cardboard), for certain products we use recycled and recyclable lids for the cardboard boxes. For plant based (vegan) bakes we use Naturli range as well as cocoa butter and coconut oil. What we don’t do:
- we do not use artificial flavourings
- nor tons of artificial food colourings,
- we don’t use gelatine, lard, dripping, suet.
- unfortunately, we cannot guarantee that our goods baked with the gluten free flour contain 20 parts per million (ppm) or less of gluten.
