Come and experiment with this fabulous ammonite stencil at the next gel plate printing workshop. This one was artfully created by a previous workshop participant and was printed onto an old piece of text, it works brilliantly!

Fancy having a go? We’ve got a day-long workshop coming up which will get you experimenting with a variety of stencils, mark-making tools and a lovely selection of botanicals. You’ll also be able to frame one of your prints and make a gift card!

Come and explore gel plate printing at this all-day workshop in Rye this June. Shelley, from Ways of Seeing, will be demonstrating various printing techniques for you to have a go at over the course of the workshop. There will be stacks of mark-making tools, a wonderful array of paint colours and a selection of seasonal botanicals to experiment with. You'll also be able to turn some of your prints into mini artworks and gift cards. All materials will be provided, including biscuits – just bring a packed lunch and your creativity! Here we go! June’s theme is ‘HOBBIES’. Now, this is pretty broad – a celebration of all the activities we like to fill our spare time with. Your hobby may well be taking photos – if it is, then simply send in your favourite photograph. Or you might like to play golf – you could come up with a creative way to show this hobby in all it’s glory! Think gardening, sports, knitting, jogging, reading, writing, baking…the list goes on.

All you have to do is creatively respond to the theme of hobbies – all mediums encouraged! As always, don’t forget to share your creative response/s on your Instagram grid, making sure to tag and use the hashtag . Alternatively, you can email it to [email protected] with all the details. I’ll be sure to share a selection online on social media and the website.

I can’t wait to see what you are inspired to create!

May’s 'all things green' Ways of Doing challenge was a very popular challenge!

A BIG THANK YOU to all of you who took part, it’s always so lovely to see all of the different ways in which you are inspired to be creative. There were loads of brilliant collages -including lots of reworked Pantone cards and some fabulous mixed-media pieces - including greenery from the garden!

Be sure to check out the Creative Responses page on the website, where you’ll be able to take a closer look at everyone’s inspired creations! I’ll announce June’s Ways of Doing theme tomorrow, Shelley ✂️

I was so pleased when people were up for this workshop yesterday– it sounds slightly bonkers, but flattened boxes really do make for interesting canvases! I think it adds to the nature of collage, making a variety of images and ideas click with each other, learning to work with what you have in front you and creating something new and fresh.

I’m currently experimenting with a variety of envelopes with address windows as collage bases which may well be the next slightly off-the-wall workshop in the future! What a feast for the eyes! So many Pantone postcards were collaged onto yesterday at the sold-out workshop in celebration of World Collage Day.

Big thanks to everyone who attended and created such wonderful work, make sure to scroll through all the slides of their work– this is only a selection of what was produced - I couldn’t keep up!

THIS SATURDAY!

You may have noticed a new style of canvas popping up on Instagram feeds...the humble pill packet. A flattened box makes for a really interesting base for a collage, and this is what you'll be working with during this collage workshop.

The workshop takes place on World Collage Day and there will be lots of collage papers, books, magazines and a stash of medicine packets for you to create some artworks with a difference. There will also be cutting mats, scissors, glue, paint, pens and pastels. Gentle guidance will be on hand throughout, along with tea, coffee and biscuits.
