I can’t believe it’s the 1st of June!! June is such a poignant month for me! 🤩

On 26/06/2025 I walked out the doors of Hull Royal Infirmary for the last time to give this business a try, could I really be a self employed baker? 👩‍🍳

I had worked in the NHS for 10 years, my final job being a Patient Flow Manager, and as we all know, there isn’t much flow happening… I had been dipping my toe in the water and started baking on the side and I received an all important message that changed my direction entirely… I was asked if I wanted to take up a residency with Sandy Bottom Pumpkin Patch for their October season and I knew I couldn’t do both NHS and running my business.

I originally asked for an employment break from THE NHS which I was granted, but 3 weeks into it I knew whatever I did, my time within the NHS had reached the end of the road and I handed in my official notice.

Now?! Today, June 1st 2026… I am just a few weeks away from being self employed for 1 whole year?! Baked.By.Ami, it’s working!!!
