Your brain makes up just 2% of your body weight… but uses up to 25% of your energy. 🤯

So if you’re forgetting names, losing words mid-sentence, walking into rooms with no idea why you’re there, or simply not feeling as mentally sharp as you used to…

It might not be “just ageing.”

In this week’s episode of Midlife Answers, wellness consultant .l.banks explains what’s really happening during perimenopause and midlife, why brain fog is so common, and the simple things that can support memory, focus and mental clarity.

If you’ve ever wondered, “Why am I so forgetful?” — this episode is for you.

Have you ever walked into a room and completely forgotten why you went in there?

Or found yourself searching for a word you know you know… but just can’t find it?

If so, you’re not alone.

This week on Midlife Answers, I’m joined by wellness consultant .l.banks to talk about cognition in midlife - from brain fog and forgetfulness to memory, focus and mental clarity.

We explore what’s really going on during perimenopause and menopause, why it’s not always “just ageing”, and some simple ways we can support our brains through nutrition, strength training, sleep and lifestyle.

One thing that really stayed with me from this conversation was the reminder that cognition isn’t just about memory. It’s about feeling like yourself again.

And if this episode resonates with you, I’d love to know: What’s the most obvious thing you’ve forgotten recently? A name? A word? Or why you walked into a room? 😅

I packed a brand-new swimming costume and bikini for this holiday.

Neither made it into my suitcase.

Like many online purchases, they looked amazing on the model. On me? Not so much. Different shape, different colouring, different everything.

A few years ago, I might have stood in front of the mirror and picked apart my body.

This time, I didn’t.

The problem wasn’t my body. The problem was that those particular pieces of swimwear weren’t right for me.

So instead, I’m on the beach wearing a swimming costume I’ve had for years. I feel comfortable in it. I feel like myself in it. And right now, that’s enough.

At 44, I still have moments of insecurity about my body. I suspect most of us do, whether we’re 14, 44 or 84.

But the message I’m trying to remind myself of, and pass on to my daughter, is this:

Don’t change yourself to suit the clothes.

Find clothes that suit you.

How something makes you feel will always matter more than what’s currently trending 🤍

Drop a ❤️ below if this resonates with you.

Have you ever tried something on and realised it was the clothes, not you?

(Realised that my family were in the background whilst filming this - hence the scribble!! 🤦🏼‍♀️)

“No amount of sit-ups will get rid of your belly on their own…” 👀

In this episode of Midlife Answers, Personal Trainer explains why spot reduction doesn’t work in midlife… and why strength training and total body exercise matter far more when it comes to belly fat after 40.

This is something so many of us aren’t told.

Have you been doing MORE workouts but seeing fewer results? Drop a ❤️ if this resonates - and share with a friend who needs to hear this 🙏🏼

Why does belly fat suddenly seem to appear more easily after 40, even when your diet and exercise haven’t really changed? 🤯

If you’ve found yourself doing MORE cardio, eating LESS, and still feeling FRUSTRATED by changes around your middle… this episode is for you.

In this week’s episode of Midlife Answers, I’m joined by Personal Trainer to talk about:
✨ hormones & midlife belly fat
✨ why sit-ups and excessive cardio often don’t work
✨ stress, sleep & cortisol
✨ why strength training matters after 40
✨ how to support your body without exhausting yourself

This conversation isn’t about blame, restriction or “fixing” yourself. It’s about understanding what’s happening in your body, and learning how to work WITH it, not against it. 🤍

“Sometimes I don’t even realise I’m overwhelmed… I just start rearranging furniture, writing endless notes, and going really inward.”

From a recent conversation in my RISE coaching series with friend and artist this felt incredibly relatable 🤍

We talked about how overwhelm doesn’t always look obvious from the outside. Sometimes it shows up physically. Sometimes it makes us retreat into ourselves. And sometimes creativity becomes the outlet that helps us process it all.

Maybe the goal isn’t to fear overwhelm… but to learn how to channel it ✨

I’d love to know how does overwhelm show up for you? Let me know below 🤍

We spend so much of our lives learning how to fit in… sometimes at the expense of ourselves.

How many of us are still people-pleasing, over-explaining or holding ourselves back because we don’t want to disappoint anyone?

And at what point do we start asking what WE actually want?

🎧 We unpack this in the latest episode of Midlife Answers - link in bio.

And tell me honestly… do you find saying “no” uncomfortable? Or am I not alone in this?

I went live last week with my friend Rebecca to talk about fear, change, and that feeling of wanting something different ✨

These snippet really stayed with me. Fear keeps so many of us staying where we are… even when we know something has to change.

Keep listening until the end for the greatest takeaway 💪🏻

Would love to know what fear have you pushed through that ended up changing your life for the better?

😘
