The cake pops that started it all🥰
The first cake pops I made were for my sister’s gender reveal and although they went down well I’ve made many improvements since! Making these cakes for people is so fun for me and I improve them more and more with every order😋
So what improvements have I made so far?
1 - Using paper sticks instead of wood - makes them sturdier and more polished looking (I used a mixture for this first batch and the paper prevailed)🪵🗒️
2 - Reducing the size of the cake pops - this stopped them falling off the sticks when dipping, a problem I’ve only faced once, in this first batch, as they were far too heavy!🏋️♀️
3 - Making my own cakes instead of using box mix - everything I read about cake pops told me to use box mix cake but now I make my own cakes every time. It gives me more control over quantity, quality and flavour🍰👩🏼🍳
4 - Using a proper stand - when I first started I was re-purposing egg cartons and polystyrene packaging to stand my cake pops in whilst they set. Whilst that’s great in terms of recycling, it wasn’t reliable so now I have two acrylic plastic stands which keep my cake pops steady and safe whilst they chill❄️
5 - Packaging - my first cake pops were too big to fit in the little bags I bought for them (oops) which was fine as they were being displayed on a table, but now I use clear bags along with ribbon (in a colour to match or compliment) to package them. This means they can be taken home by your and/or your guests safely whilst looking cute at the same time!🎀
I wonder what other improvements will be made over time as I continue on this road🕰️📈🍰🍭✨
