This was a challenge to combine two very different themes on one cake for 18 year old twins. Kuromi (no? Me neither 😂) and The Beatles. Challenge duly accepted and I’m told it was very happily received and consumed 😛 Under the hand made decorations was a vanilla sponge with white chocolate ganache.

Against the odds and after numerous very near misses my dad made it to 80 years young yesterday. He has a lovely garden that he hates watering, has an ongoing battle with a squirrel who pinches his peanuts, collects crappy old plant pots and compost bags, and can never find his walking stick so all of these were included on his cake together with a model of the man himself with his skinny little legs complete with scars and lumpy veins 😂 His favourite rich fruit cake with marzipan AKA Christmas cake.

As a ‘woman of a certain age’ I’ve been looking forward to making this one ever since I got the brief. It’s the most fun I’ve had making a cake, took me back to my childhood. Top tier red velvet with milk chocolate ganache, bottom tier rainbow vanilla sponge with white chocolate ganache.
