The Royal Oak is full of character, with vintage photographs of Old Malton dotted along the walls, offering a fascinating glimpse into the villageโs past & local community. Itโs those little touches that add to the pubโs traditional charm & make it feel that extra bit special. ๐
And the food certainly didnโt disappoint! Our meal was absolutely perfect, everything arrived piping hot, beautifully cooked & full of flavour. A special shoutout to local Norton butchers Nesfield & Piercy Butchers for supplying such fantastic quality meat too! Itโs always great to see local businesses supporting one another. ๐ฅฉ๐
What makes The Royal Oak Old Malton a little different is its South African twist! The chef/landlord is South African, so alongside all the classic British pub favourites, youโll also find a selection of traditional South African dishes on the menu. ๐ฟ๐ฆ
I couldnโt resist trying the Malva pudding for dessert, a traditional South African pudding made with apricot jam, with a soft, spongy, caramelised texture & served with custard. Something a little different from the usual pub desserts & absolutely delicious! ๐
After lunch, we enjoyed a scenic drive along Marine Drive in Scarborough, taking in the beautiful coastal views before heading home. A Sunday afternoon very well spent! ๐๐ท
