After almost 8 years, Sweet Cakes is closing.
I found Cakes after walking away from an incredibly toxic work environment that left me so broken.
The past 7+ years have been an incredible journey and it has been a privilege to have provided Cakes for Weddings, Baby Showers, Engagements, Just cuz, Birthdays etc etc.
The learning curve was insane and it gave me the opportunity to be at home for my girls. Well my girls are now 14 and 16 and well they don't need me just as much!
So I went for a Christmas temp job in October and this week I got a permanent position! It has been so good to get up and out to work, to talk to people and not just my dogs!
The rising costs for bakers is also a contributing factor, the sugar paste I use was £10 per 5kg, it is now just shy of £30!!! Making ganache when I started the chocolate was 29p for 100g it's now 70p for 100g. Don't even get me started on Boards, Boxes etc.
So while I am sad and will miss the door step chats and seeing those gorgeous children each year, I am excited for this next chapter.
