This little beautiful cake won a “great taste” award (announced early August 2024) 🏅🏅

This is the second time I participate in the Guild of Fine Food and winning both times fill my heart with utter joy 🥲 as receiving a1-,2- or3- star accolade is a highly respected seal of approval 🥹
The judges said “ Structurally, it’s pretty impressive with perfectly regular layers and a cookie that fits on top exactly. Good texture to the cake. Lovely, super-smooth icing, the dark chocolate version of which is particularly delicious - we’re sorry there wasn’t more of it. We weren’t sure about incorporating cookies but now we’re convinced. Both ganaches, in particular, delighted us”

“Visually a really impressive looking construction. Beautifully defined layers, each with its own story, add to the overall picture. Surprisingly moist and light crumb with well balanced sweetness. The variation between the dark buttercream and light cream cheese gives great contrast in flavour and visual impact. Cookies are slightly superfluous to what really is a gorgeous cake.”
