Hi friends and supporters.
I know technically we’re still in summer 🌞 … but you know me, I like to plan ahead! 🎄

On 16 December, we’re holding our annual Christmas dinner at The Star At Sidcup Place for unpaid carers and older people we support through the charity I head up Crossroads SEL

For some, it’s much more than a Xmas meal, it’s a chance to come together, feel valued and enjoy some Christmas cheer with others.

Each Xmas dinner is £15, and I’m asking friends and colleagues if they might consider sponsoring a dinner to help us make the day really special.

Ageing well is about more than staying active. It is about confidence, routine, connection, and feeling safe at home.

At Crossroads SEL our Ageing Well service supports older people who are finding daily life harder, while giving unpaid carers and families practical help, reassurance, and time to breathe.

A little regular support can help someone stay independent for longer, reduce pressure on unpaid carers, and prevent difficulties from escalating.

If you care for someone who needs extra support, you do not have to manage it alone.

Unpaid carers in Bexley are holding families together, often while facing impossible choices about heating, safety and household costs.

Crossroads SEL is proud to be working in partnership with SELCE-South East London Community Energy to support adult and parent carers across Bexley with practical energy and home safety support.

This project is about more than advice. It is about helping unpaid carers keep their homes warmer, safer and more manageable while they continue providing vital care, often unseen and unpaid.

Struggling financially? Support may be available.

The Crisis and Resilience Fund can provide eligible residents with help towards essential items and living costs, as well as access to advice that can help improve financial wellbeing in the longer term.

This could include support with food, energy costs, essential clothing and school uniform, household items, furniture and white goods, and some housing-related costs.

Residents can apply directly online, or be referred by a Council officer or partner organisation.
