Digital Marketing:
If you forget everything else I ever tell you, I want you to remember this one thing....
You do not own your profile
When you realise this truth and implement solid marketing outside of Social Media, then you’ll survive the ‘Algorithm Crazies’. You can let Zuckerberg do what he likes, your likes many take a knock but as long as your bank balance doesn’t, then all good Zucker!
So, what do you do?
Step one - email lists - still a thing, do it
Step two - networking - join any local networking group.
Step three - go vintage - this one’s my personal favourite. Do you remember way back when, photographers used to take pictures on the side walk and sell you those pics...I know I’d be THRILLED at having a candid shot of me and the family at a carnival. I’d pay a fiver for that. Online shots are like £.70p to print. Massive markup.
Web design? Offer to teach an over 50’s group how to get online. They’ll spread the love for you quicker than you can say wildfire. Event planner? Offer to do a school fete, word of mouth will get you more business than you can handle. Graphic designer? Make some cool Christmas cards for pensioners to give to their kids - your contact details at the back.
In other words folks, get back to basics. Let Social Media Marketing be a bonus not the be all and end all of your marketing.
