I was listening to a discussion on LBC Radio about the cost of food and alcohol in London restaurants, bars and clubs.

And yes, going out in London is not the cheapest thing to do.

But I think people are missing the point completely.

A bottle of wine at home and a bottle of wine in a beautiful restaurant are not the same product.

Not even close.

When we go out, we are not just paying for food or drink.

We are paying for emotion.

For atmosphere.
For energy.
For connection.
For celebration.
For romance.
For memories.
For how a place makes us feel.

That is the real value.

The same applies to events.

Even when an event is complimentary, people are still investing something incredibly valuable:

Their time.
Their energy.
Their attention.

And with every Lifestyle Awards® event, that is what we try to give back.

Not just drinks or canapés.

Emotion.
Connection.
Experience.

Because the best moments in life are rarely about the product itself.

They are about how the experience made you feel.

Have a beautiful day, whether you’re in London or somewhere else in the world.

Today I found myself thinking about something we are seeing very clearly behind the scenes.

Money is moving.

Brands are increasing investment into live environments, particularly events. Not as an experiment, but as a strategic shift.
AI is scaling content, reach and efficiency at a remarkable pace. But in doing so, it is also removing something essential.

Authenticity.

The more polished and automated the digital world becomes, the more valuable real human experience becomes.
Live environments allow brands to be seen, felt and experienced. To look their customers in the eye. To exist beyond the screen.

We are seeing this first hand.
From London to Monaco, where Sucasa Hospitality will host during the Grand Prix, brands are actively seeking access to environments where people gather, connect and celebrate.

It is not about visibility alone. It is about credibility.

This is why the Lifestyle Awards® and the wider London Lifestyle platform are attracting serious attention. Because they are built around real places, real people and real experiences, with integrity at the centre.

The shift has already started.
The question is who understands it early enough to lead.

In London, service isn’t a gesture. It’s a standard.

It’s in the details you don’t ask for.
The timing you don’t notice.
The feeling that everything is exactly as it should be.

This is what defines the city. Not just what you experience, but how it’s delivered.
London is the standard.

In Mayfair, getting past the velvet rope is never by chance.

This was friends and family, before the doors open.

Fantastic food.
Beautifully considered cocktails.
A wine list that speaks for itself.
All set within a truly stunning interior.
MA/NA already feels like it belongs.
Opening to the public 6 May.

St George’s Day

Today is about recognising what this country truly is.

England has always led from the front.
In sport, in culture, in creativity, in how we present ourselves to the world.

This weekend, the London Marathon. One of the greatest sporting events anywhere.
Soon, Wimbledon. Still the benchmark for tennis globally.

But it goes far beyond that.

From our theatre, music and hospitality to our influence on style and presentation, England continues to shape standards worldwide.

And at the same time, we remain open.
Welcoming people, ideas and cultures that continue to strengthen what we are.

That’s what I’m celebrating today.

London doesn’t just live in its landmarks.
It lives on the streets, in the corners, in the places locals return to again and again.

Neighbourhood restaurants are where London’s real story is told.

Personal, and quietly exceptional.
This is the city at its most authentic.

This is the Best of London.

London looks good today. Even with the wind.
I was thinking about something I come back to often.

Simon Sinek’s idea of “start with why”.
A lot of people assume my “why” is hospitality.
Restaurants, theatres, bars, gyms… and yes, I genuinely love all of that.
But that’s not the real reason.

My why is London.

It’s the combination of everything this city is.
The energy, the standards, the people, the ambition.
That’s what keeps me building, year after year.

Because London isn’t an easy city.
It demands a lot. But it gives a lot back too.
So I’m curious…

Why do you do what you do?

Coffee in London isn’t just coffee.
It’s where mornings begin, deals are made, ideas are shaped, and moments are shared.

From quiet corners to packed terraces, the city lives through its cafés.
This is London’s lifestyle.
And this is just the beginning.

There’s a certain glamour to London.

Not loud. Not obvious.
But always there.
In the light, the movement, the moments you almost miss.
The feeling that something is about to happen… or just has.
That’s what makes it seductive.
