Serves | 6 people Preparation time | 30 minutes Baking time | 20 minutes
For the filling:
-1.5kg cooking apples
-50ml lemon juice / juice from one lemon
For the topping:
-100g plain flour
-50g porridge oats
-150g dark brown sugar
-100g softened butter
-1 teaspoon of cinnamon
Method:
-Preheat the oven to 180C
-Peel and core the apples, then cut them into thin slices. Place in a small pan with the lemon juice and 100g water. Bring to the boil, then place in the oven and cook for about 20 minutes, or until the apple slices are soft.
-Put the dry topping ingredients in a mixing bowl and rub in the butter until it is evenly distributed. Then sprinkle the cinnamon in.
-Pour the apples into a baking dish and add 3 tablespoons of water from the pan.
-Spread the crumble mixture evenly over the top of the softened apples and bake for about 20 minutes, or until golden-brown and crisp.
