My first attempt at Tiramisu Brownies. Pretty pleased with it but the ratios aren’t right yet…I like a LOT more cream on top. Also needs a bit more coffee!

We’re just back from a lovely week in Leeds while my son was dancing at NSCD. I’ve never eaten so many scones in a week 🙈

We had a gorgeous afternoon tea at Betty’s Tearoom to celebrate our 18th Wedding Anniversary.

🏥 I’m getting an MRI on Tuesday to see if they can find anything in my hip or back that could be causing the ongoing pain. If you could keep your fingers crossed, I’d be so grateful 🙏

I am really missing baking just now - I realise how much it helps my mental health. I’m going to try out some new recipes this week - tiramisu brownies is first on my list! 🍫

I want to say a huge thank you for everyone’s support while I’m off my feet. I really hope it’s not too long before I can be baking for you all again 🧁

I haven’t been able to bake lately, as my recovery isn’t going to plan. But I’ve been trying done other creative things, including painting this picture of my wee Willow. I am really proud of it. I’ve never painted before, so I went to Nicola Sweet Artist Pop Art Pet Portrait and I just loved it. I’ll definitely be back for another class 😍🎨🖌️We now need a wee place to hang it.

How amazing is this painting?
This lovely lady came along to my last Pop Art Pet Portrait class in June and made a fantastic start to painting her beautiful pooch Willow.
As someone who likes to take her time she decided to finish it off in her own time and this is the result 🥰🥰! What is even more amazing is that she hadn't painted anything since being in school, wow!! She is one talented lady!!
We even got to sample some of her awesome cakes on the night which she brought for everyone to share The Little Steel Bakery is her fabby enterprise and definitely worth a visit if you are in the area. X

How did you spend your sunny Saturday afternoon? Sadly it’s not a cocktail 🍹💁🏻‍♀️just a juice. Unfortunately my hip is not recovering as hoped, so I was back in hospital again today for more checks. MRI needed to check hip and back. Back on crutches again 🙈

Back in my happy place! I got a few new cook books and I’ve picked 10 recipes I want to try - here’s the first one. 👇

It’s chocolate and whipped salted caramel cake. It is incredibly light and not sweet at all, even though it has chocolate ganache and salted caramel 🍫
I think I’ll add a bit more whipped caramel next time, it was so lovely.

Who would fancy a slice of this?
Should we add this to our next at home bakery? 🍰

Apologies for the radio silence lately. I had been recovering well and was allowed off crutches, I even started hydro therapy and was feeling good.

Unfortunately I had to go back to hospital yesterday as I was getting new unexpected pain…and some familiar pre-op pain (my heart is on the floor) 😢

Luckily my surgeon saw me straight away and did X-rays. They were all good, but I’ve been ask to ease rehab at the minute and go back on crutches to see if it settles.

Before the pain started I managed to bake some cupcakes for my mum’s belated birthday. I also got creative with some painting with Nicola Sweet Artist

I hope to be moving forward again next week 🤞🤞

Thought I’d have a little look back at some of my bakes in the last week while. 😍 I must be feeling better as I’m desperate to get back baking! 👩🏻‍🍳

It’ll be a wee while yet, so in the meantime, I’m having fun looking at my previous bakes and sitting with a cup of tea going through my cook books! I honestly have sooo many new recipes I can’t wait to try.

Hoping to be recipe testing when I get off crutches in a few weeks 🤩

Tiffin! 💕 I honestly love it. I was playing around with a recipe a while ago and made this one with peanut butter in the chocolate and in the base! 🥜 🍫 It was soooo good! I’ll need to introduce these at our next at home bake.

I love this photo! Believe it or not, 6 years ago today, these boxes of cakes gave me the idea to start our little bakery 🧁

It was my mum’s birthday (happy birthday, mum 🥳) and we were in Covid. We couldn’t all get together to celebrate, so I decided to make her a box of afternoon tea cakes to enjoy. I also made boxes for her friends and family - that way they could all celebrate in their own homes!

I loved how much joy they brought everyone and decided then and there that I wanted to do this again - make boxes of treats to make people smile. Whether for a celebration, a gift to say thanks or just to enjoy with a cup of tea. It made me so happy. It still does.

And so, the idea for The Little Steel Bakery was born 💕
